SheCodes Coding Workshop Reviews

This workshop focused on building responsive websites that work seamlessly across all devices, as well as creating multi-page sites from the ground up. I got to build on what I already knew with HTML, CSS, VSCode, and Git/GitHub—plus took a deeper dive into advanced Bootstrap (specifically: grid concepts, utility classes), Flexbox, CSS media queries, multiple page hosting, SEO, and more. It was definitely a challenge at times, but the final project really helped solidify the concepts that I had learned in this workshop; particularly when it came to Bootstrap, utility classes, and CSS media queries. Creating a multi-page portfolio that is optimized for responsivity across multiple devices required a lot of repetition and tweaking, which helped the knowledge sink in. I’m excited to keep the momentum going by starting the Responsive add-on for this workshop before diving into React. I also look forward to presenting and growing my portfolio with previous projects that I've built, projects that reflect my personal interests, and eventually showcasing real-world client work that will evolve alongside my growing skill set.

I have learnt so much in just three weeks, it's been amazing to get to grips with the fundamentals of coding in a really practical way, with challenges that push you just enough to feel like you're applying what you're learning without feeling overwhelming. I have also loved having the community on Slack to reach out to for guidance and support, they're incredibly helpful and responsive. I have loved the course so much, I signed up for the Bootcamp and I can't wait to learn more. Within less than two weeks, I successfully completed yet another React course — the SheCodes React Add-on, and what a journey it’s been! This course took my React skills to a whole new level. I built a fully functional dictionary app from scratch, using live data from external APIs and styling it responsively with Tailwind CSS. I learned how to manage state efficiently, handle user inputs, integrate image search with the Pixabay API, and create a smooth, dynamic user experience. Despite the fast pace, I enjoyed every moment, from facing challenges like debugging axios requests, to watching my app come to life, step by step. It was intense but exciting, and it boosted both my confidence and my coding skills. I'm really proud of this milestone and even more excited about the projects I’ll build next with everything I’ve learned. SheCodes Basics courses provide absolute beginners (like I was) with step-by-step instruction and valuable information on basic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with each course being a building block for the next one. The courses are well-structured and informative, and the SheCodes Team is helpful and responsive.

While beeing currently in New York, I developed a fully responsive travel website from the ground up, focused on local food spots and attractions. I absolutely enjoyed this project, it sharpened my front-end development skills using HTML5, CSS Grid, HTML tables, and embeds. I created an interactive layout with travel project cards and dynamic visuals.

I found the Responsive Web Design course on CSS Grid really interesting. It was a great way to dive deeper into building flexible and well-structured layouts. I also had fun discovering some cool extras like CSS filters and iframes — little surprises that made the whole learning experience even more enjoyable! That said, I still prefer using Flexbox — it just feels more intuitive to me for most layout tasks ^^;

Great to learn how to make a full website with lots of embedded information and without using Bootstrap! I am feeling more confident in my knowledge on how to create responsive websites.

Another workshop finished which truly tested my capabilities. I got to put everything I have learned so far into practice, creating a fully responsive and functional website and I am more than happy with the result.

I recently completed the 5-week SheCodes Responsive coding course and had a fantastic experience! The 'Responsive Add-On' course is very beneficial to brush up on everything that you have learned so far and enables you to create another website landing page to showcase on your portfolio 🖥️

The responsive add-on course teaches you a few more techniques and allows you to dive even deeper into responsive by giving you the opportunity to build an entire responsive website from scratch. It allows you to use all of your previously acquired skills and put them into action. The course is definitely challenging but I like that you have the option to build your website alongside Matt or do it completely on your own without watching the videos in advance. It is a lot of learning but it is also a lot of fun to be able to build your own website and see it come to life on screens of all sizes.

In this period, I learned about responsive design and how to create websites that display correctly on all devices (mobile, tablet, and desktop). I practiced key skills such as Flexbox, Grid, Media Queries, and optimization techniques for a better user experience. Now, I can design responsive web pages that are both beautiful and functional.

The Add-on lessons on responsive design were incredibly helpful. I now have a much better understanding of how to create websites that look great on all devices. The lessons were clear, practical, and tailored to my needs. The course offers a structured approach and valuable learning materials, but my experience was impacted by a lack of responsive support. My initial start date was incorrect due to an issue on SheCodes' side, and despite reaching out multiple times, I had difficulty getting timely assistance. While the content is helpful, it consists entirely of pre-recorded videos, which felt less personal for a paid program. I expected more direct interaction and support.

SheCodes Responsive was a nice and interesting experience. I learned a lot about making web pages look great on different sizes screens, making me feel more confident about my coding skills as well. The idea of creating a personal portfolio with all my projects as the end project is awesome, it gave me the possibility to display all my projects with a fully responsive portfolio. Lovely experience, big thanks to Matt!

It was amazing to learn how easily we can integrate AI through APIs to our projects! I always thought AI was something super complicated, but this lesson really broke it down. One of the best parts was seeing how these APIs can make applications feel more intuitive and responsive—like how AI can help with automating tasks and predicting user preferences. The hands-on coding examples were really helpful because I got to see how it all connects in real-time.

The Responsive Add-On was a great extension to the Responsive course. It offered alternatives for making websites responsive without having to rely on Bootstrap. The final project is also something that you can really customize and create something that represents you. It gave me the opportunity to practice my design skills.
