Over the past six weeks with SheCodes, I have developed my skills in responsive web design, SEO, content structure and front-end development. My PinkGrid Studios portfolio has been my favourite project so far, as it allowed me to bring my learning together to create a personal website showcasing my journey, skills and projects as an aspiring front-end developer and software developer. The SheCodes React course was a very rewarding experience. It helped me understand how to build interactive applications using components, state, hooks and API integration, while also improving the way I organise and structure my code. Creating my weather application, Nimbusly, allowed me to put everything into practice, from fetching real-time data and managing different states to building a responsive and user-friendly interface. The challenges encouraged me to keep researching, testing and improving my work. I am finishing this course with stronger React skills, greater confidence in solving problems and even more motivation to continue learning and developing as a Front-End Developer.

My experience with She Code Africa has been a wonderful learning journey. As a nursing student passionate about technology, building each website for the first time gave me the opportunity to explore my creativity and take a step closer to my dream of becoming a developer. Despite the challenges, I learned to keep going, and I'm grateful to the team for this opportunity. This is only the beginning of my journey!
Learning React through the Weather Forecast project was a great experience. I enjoyed building a real application, working with APIs, and improving my JavaScript and React skills. The workshop was easy to follow and helped me gain confidence as an aspiring developer.
The Plus Add-on took me beyond the basics and into building a real tool. I learned how to work with dates and time zones, build a project in clean HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and put it online with GitHub and Netlify. My project was a World Clock. It shows live times in cities around the world, has a select with cities grouped by region, links back to the homepage, and shows the time in the visitor's own location. Making every clock tick and checking that the times were correct taught me the most. I also added a few extras, like day and night colours and how far ahead or behind each city is. I finished this phase feeling more confident about handling real-world details like time zones, and about taking a project from an idea to a live site. I'd recommend the Plus Add-on to anyone who wants to keep growing after the basics.
SheCodes took me from the basics of JavaScript to building and publishing real projects. I learned how to work with APIs, use Git and GitHub, and deploy sites on Netlify. I also learned how to write prompts and build with AI. My two favourite projects were Lumina, a weather app with live data and a 7-day forecast, and Nicely, no., an AI generator that writes kind, honest ways to say no. Seeing something I built work live on the internet was the best part. The bugs along the way, like scripts loading in the wrong order, taught me the most. I finished the course feeling confident that I can turn an idea into working code. I'd recommend SheCodes to any woman who wants to start in tech.
A very good course, from which I was able to learn a great deal. I am a psychologist, and I am looking to gain new knowledge. It feels as though Matt takes you by the hand and walks the entire path with you. I highly recommend it.
I joined SheCodes Basics to better understand how websites work and build my confidence with coding. The step-by-step lessons and practical challenges helped me bring HTML, CSS and JavaScript together in my own breathwork landing page. Seeing something Iβd built respond to a button click was a lovely milestone! Iβm finishing the course with a stronger foundation and the curiosity to keep learning.
SheCodes Plus Add-on was a great addition to the Plus coursework, offering the opportunity to revisit what I had learned and put those skills into practice through a new project.
This was a very interesting project! I never though to make something like a recipe generator using AI API but the possibilities are endless! I had a lot of fun learning how to manipulate CSS and JavaScript in many ways. I can't wait to learn more about how to use AI!

The Python Advanced course is a great way to learn about how Python can be implemented in most job roles that involve analysing data and creating reports.
Over these 8 weeks I went from learning the basics of JavaScript to building and publishing a real weather app. I started with strings, arrays and objects. Then I moved on to functions, dates, events and forms, and finally connected to a live API with Axios. Along the way I learned how to use Git and GitHub and how to deploy a site on Netlify. My final project, Lumina, searches any city and shows live weather, a 7-day forecast, Β°C/Β°F switching, location detection and the city's own local time. Fixing bugs along the way, like duplicate variables, scripts loading in the wrong order and a folder uploaded to the wrong place, taught me the most. I now feel confident turning an idea into working code, and I'd happily recommend SheCodes to other women starting in tech.

I loved the SheCodes Plus AI Add-On workshop. It was real fun working on the Joke Generator and the AI Poetry Generator (it was pretty exciting as I love poetry). We got to work on our HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills, some API integration and also an introduction to AI. Learning to prompt SheCodes AI to do what we need from it, have it follow the user's guidelines and learning how to fetch it's answers and display it on the page was really interesting and also it makes you see lots of possibilities of what you can create next. Fun course with a clear structure. A lot of it was rebuilding what Matt had already coded step by step, so donβt expect much room to experiment on your own. That said, typing everything out myself and running into my own mistakes did more for my understanding than just watching would have. Repetition turned out to be the real teacher here. A good fit if you want working Python quickly and learn best by doing.

Honestly, in the beginning, I did not enjoy Python at all. But once we started learning about plots, graphs, and their usefulness, I started to lock in! I mean, I still have a lot to learn, but this journey has definitely been full of humbling lessons. π

This project was a great learning experience. Although I hadnβt coded in about two years, I enjoyed revisiting the basics, learning how to integrate AI into a website, and building my own AI Poem Generator. With guidance, I was able to work through the code, troubleshoot issues, and publish my project online. This experience has helped rebuild my confidence in coding and motivated me to keep learning and exploring what I can create with AI and technology.

So fun and interesting! The potential behind this tool is quite impressive and will allow us to effectively make the best websites we can in a shorter time period. I already did the SheCodes Coding workshops a few years ago; it's a little daunting to realise that coding, as we know it, is no longer paramount to this process. Although having that knowledge in my toolbox helped me better understand how to prompt the AI tool effectively, it's still a good idea to learn the basic languages of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I look forward to learning more!
Over the past month, I dedicated myself to building a solid foundation in front-end web development, diving headfirst into HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I really enjoyed completing the SheCodes Python AI workshop project! It was a really interesting and engaging experience, and I learned a lot while working through the project. I loved getting hands-on with Python and AI, and I found the whole process both enjoyable and rewarding.
I just finished the responsive web design workshop, and my final project is my own portfolio website. In this workshop I learned how to make my code responsive to any screen size, using Flexbox and media queries, and how to build a multi-page website. I also learned advanced Bootstrap, like the navigation and utility classes, and how to host my code on GitHub and host a multi-page site online. The best part is that I ended up with a unique portfolio I can actually use.
SheCodes made learning Python genuinely fun and easy to understand. Iβm very grateful to the team for creating such a clear, engaging, and enjoyable way to learn! it made Python feel much more approachable.
I had no idea what to expect with the SheCodes Plus AI workshop, but it was informative and Matt made it a little less scary.
