This course has truly ignited my passion for coding. I have always wanted to learn to code but thought I needed to have some special talent for it. Matt debunked that theory in the free coding class instantly and got me excited to begin my first workshop. I definitely gained some excellent baseline knowledge of coding, though, it was a ton of information. Matt did an excellent job teaching; the instruction was clear and engaging. I cannot wait to begin my next workshop!

I really enjoyed beginning my coding journey with Matt and SheCodes. The lessons were informative and the instructor made an intimidating subject fun and easy to learn.
I was really impressed by this course. I've always been a bit intimidated by coding, but SheCodes is awesome! Rather than just giving you a bunch of video lessons where you're trying to absorb a ton of new information with out really putting any of it to use, SheCodes provides a challenge with each lesson. I loved the accountability these challenges provided, plus putting my knowledge to the test helped to make sure I was really absorbing all the information.
I have worked at a few start ups in the Bay Area and always knew there was a gender gap in the industry so I was thrilled to find a program specific to women that was affordable. This was a fantastic introduction to coding that reinforced a lot of the things I felt I already knew (aka how to read code), but it taught me so much more about how the "languages" speak to each other. I'll definitely be returning for another level of courses.

I took this course because I want to create my personal webpage to "show off"my Instructional Design and Training portfolio. I relearned HTML and CSS, from many years ago. (smile) Not only did I become familiar with the lastest version of HTML and CSS, I also became familiar with Javascript. (Wow). Learning these tools was very exciting. The structure of the course (micro-lessons) coupled with the exercises facilitated mastering the concepts. I know a little and now I'm dangerous (smile), however, I know I need to learn more. I want to learn more! With this format I know I can learn more quite easily. The support staff on Slack was excellent and provided timely feedback. I would highly recommend this course.
This workshop is a great intro to coding. I love that it gives you all the basics and a support team on Slack yet also teaches you to be an independent learner and do your own research.
I took this course to find out if coding was something I enjoyed and wanted to pursue as a career change. Taking the SheCodes Basics was definitely what I needed to feel refreshed and confident with coding before hopping onto the more advanced courses such as React or Pro, which I am thinking of taking next. Each lesson within a week was so easy to follow and the extra documentation and syntaxes provided below each video was very helpful. The way Matt had divided his lessons really makes the student not feel overwhelmed as most may worry or be intimidated about when it comes to coding. But with SheCodes everything was easy. Wow! I absolutely loved this course. I have a background in Fashion Design, but I am looking to transition into UX/UI. I wanted to take this course because I do not have a background in coding. I will be using these new-found skills for my own personal independently operated graphic design business, but also hopefully in a job I get soon (I am already in interviews for a Project Manager position).

I always thought I wasn't smart enough to understand how to write code. I'd tried to learn in the past, and each time I struggled to feel capable in writing something on my own. I enjoyed this basics workshop, I needed it to get me going.
I've been considering making a career switch into the tech field and started by teaching myself some basic HTML using free resources on my own. However, I learn best with a more structured approach and thought about trying out a Bootcamp but haven't been brave enough to take the leap. I decided to start with SheCodes basics to test if I can manage to learn the material within the deadlines and envision myself coding as a career. SheCodes was nice because it was very affordable and Matt taught us tricks that I wouldn't have been able to find on my own. All of the material was broken down into small steps and didn't feel overwhelming at all. Now I feel confident that I can succeed in a Bootcamp and enjoy doing this as a career.

The Basic Course is a good starting point for anyone who is interested in coding. The instructional videos are short and straight to the point. This makes it easy for anyone to follow along and complete the course at their own pace. This was such a fun course and I recommend it to everyone. The course is very well structured and easy to code along! Even if you have no coding background, this course is great because it starts from "zero", and the instructor explains everything in a way that anyone can understand. This is my first milestone towards the full course - SheCodes Pro, that I'll be completing!
I have been looking for a career change for quite some time. And I love a good challenge! But after researching several other coding boot camps, all with a hefty price-tag, I was beginning to think coding wasn't my journey. Until I found SheCodes! Their Basic Coding course was well in my price range and just enough to get "my feet wet". I knew from the first lesson on Week 1, coding was for me, and I plan on signing up for their other courses.
This has been such an easy to follow program! I love that everything is recorded. This allows for a rewind option as much as I need, which is often. The slack communication is perfect for problem solving on my own time.

For the last three years, I have taught second grade in an elementary school setting. During the pandemic, I found a passion for technology and teaching online (unpopular opinion!). I have always loved designing and creating my own resources but had little knowledge on the subject. I realized a couple months ago that I would love to get into the tech world but didn't know where to start. When I attended the free workshop I was blown away by Matt's ability to effectively communicate how to code. I knew I could pick up on it quickly so I joined the course. The last 3 weeks have been so much fun! The course is clear and concise. Matt does a phenomenal job breaking down HTML, CSS and JavaScript into digestible lessons. The challenges really push you and give you a productive struggle. I highly recommend this course!
I would absolutely recommend this course for any beginning or someone who's interested in strengthening their chops! Be forewarned you will have to do a lot of research on your own but I think that's what makes it fun and really helps you learn. Be Brave!
