I began as a novice with the intro to coding class and quickly fell in love with coding through Matt's easy-to-follow videos and Joao's helpful support on challenges and homework. After graduating from the intro workshop, I immediately enrolled in SheCodes Plus and then SheCodes React. Improving my coding literacy and building the weather app project from scratch has been such an empowering experience. If the SheCodes team ever offers courses on any other coding languages, I will be first in line to sign up!

Rebecca Temerario worked for 12 years in the bookselling and publishing industry as a communications, events, social media, and marketing manager. When COVID-19 hit, her position was unfortunately eliminated. As a graduate of a Master's Degree in Integrated Marketing Communications, Rebecca knew how integral HTML & CSS are to digital marketing concepts such as SEO- and wanted to use her time between opportunities wisely. Learning to code through SheCodes allowed Rebecca to add another tool to her marketing toolbox. While approaching coding as a total beginner can be extremely intimidating, SheCodes made it so accessible and easy to understand. Not only that, this course helped show me how much I truly enjoy coding. If you're new to this like me, I 100% recommend starting with the 3 week workshop!
Really loved this workshop! Matt's videos were simple and concise and very informative without giving that feeling of being overwhelmed. The workshop itself was a reasonable price. There were certain "challenges" that were definitely challenges and google becomes your friend, personally I would do a quick google search and MDN offers a solution but rarely a well explain explanation, here comes SLACK. It was a great place for all of us to bounce our ideas off one another and ask for help for challenges, homework, and the project. Very helpful! There's a sense of pride whenever you complete a challenge or homework and I love that. Coding is also very impressive to those who aren't at all into the world of coding, so to show someone your entire code they're completely floored by it all haha! Would recommend this course to anyone interested in coding.
SheCodes was fantastic! It was the perfect balance of learning and practicing with the projects. I was able to balance the workshop with my full-time job and family without any stress!

This SheCodes Beginner workshop was great!!! I liked that it was self-paced so I learned at my own pace/time but that motivated me to stay on top of the lessons weekly. The challenges at the end of the lessons were a good way to put into practice what Matt taught. Overall, I think this workshop is a great place to start and it's definitely peaked my interest in coding. I'm really happy & proud of the page I put together for my final project.

SheCodes was a fun and creative experience! Coming from a humanities background I was unsure how well I would be able to understand the coding concepts. The workshop and homework assignments, however, were interesting and manageable with my full time job. I made a website from HTML, CSS and even some Javascript. The teaching style is supportive, clear and engaging; I am a hug fan of the way the workshops are structured and the UI. Messaging on slack is painless, and best of all, SheCodes radio. I must have listened to all the songs 4-5x.

The program was pretty basic. I was hoping to see more from CSS materials or have more recommend sources to learn from. Also, the arrangement or grid view of the page needed to be emphasized and went deeper than just gave out the code for padding and margin.
This was my first ever attempt at coding, and I loved it! All of the lessons were easy to follow and the challenges & homework were just hard enough to where Google and the Slack community came in handy. It definitely took going back and forth from old challenges to remember some of the syntax but I can confidently say I am completing this course knowing substantially more than I did coming in. 10/10 recommend π

This first workshop at SheCodes has been an amazing experience. I have always been interested in coding and as a marketing professional I work very closely with web designers, app developers, and programmers but never completely immersed in their departments. Naturally, in marketing you learn a lot of CSS and HTML but it was never enough. The SheCodes classes have filled the holes in my knowledge and helped me make sense of the work I have been doing allowing me to be a better and more innovative marketing designer.
I've never considered myself to be a "computer person". My dad is a Computer Engineer and growing up I admired that but only from at a distance. In my early 20's I dropped out of a traditional 4yr college and began my journey into Cosmetology. Once I passed my state board certifications I worked in several salons and I even got a part-time job as a banquet server. Soon I realized that I did not want to be a hairstylist but instead I pursued Hospitality and that's where I made my career over the past 10yrs. In March I was put on furlough for what my company said would only be 2 months. 2 months came and went and to this day I still do not know when or if I will ever return to my previous job. I started to think that I needed to change my career and did a lot of soul searching over the past few months. After narrowing down my search I decided to take a chance and start some coding classes. These first classes were very basic and less than stimulating but they made my brain work in a different way and it was challenging for me which is something that I have been longing to experience since being furloughed. I watched video after video and found that I did not like the lack of structure and that I knew I could benefit from some curriculum to follow as well. As I was scrolling through Facebook (thanks cookies!) an add for SheCodes came across my screen and I applied shortly after. These past 3 weeks have been challenging, fun and have made me feel like there will be a new future for me.

Matt explains coding in a way to me that makes it seem easier to understand than other coding classes I've looked at. It's great to have help through Slack. I wish I was able to learn the terminology and the reasoning as to why some parts of coding are made the way they are, I think that would have made it easier for me when I found the challenges to be difficult at times. I'm glad I pushed through it, it becomes easier to learn once you put everything together and you continuously keep working on your coding. Overall I would recommend taking SheCodes.
Super fast paced, but the program gives you ample amount of time to be able to complete all the work. The SheCodes Slack channel is amazing and supportive. I would highly recommend any woman wanting to get an intro to coding.
I really enjoy the format of this class. It was challenging insofar as it motivated me to tackle some things I didn't think I had the skills for yet. The sense of accomplishment that I felt when my final project was running properly was so satisfying.
These three weeks have been so much fun. I am currently looking to utilize my analytical skills to develop towards a more challenging but rewarding career and this Workshop really sparked my interest in coding.

When I first heard about this workshop, I wasn't sure that I would be able to do it, but it proved that I could not only do it, but I also had a ton of fun completing all the workshops!
As a beginner, it took me more than 1 hour/day but it was an exciting learning experience.
I enjoyed these first 3 weeks as I got an introduction to 3 languages (HTML, Java, and CSS) which will help me understand and communicate with developers in a new project I am leading. The information is presented clearly. The instructors are ready to help and it made me want to learn more about coding.
I thoroughly enjoyed this course. Matt explains things in a very comprehensible way and shows you exactly what to do as he talks about it. The structure is wonderful because you actually learn instead of just following along. After being shown exactly how to work on the lesson's topic, it forces you to try the problems on your own before you can see the solution but you can still go back and rework it if you need with no sense of shame. I love that I can go at my own pace instead of one dictated by a live class. I am looking forward to the next workshop.

As a long time service industry professional, I was concerned about the future of my career during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the midst of so many changes, I found myself wanting options. After seeing an ad online and reading testimonies from women who had no prior coding experience, I decided to enroll. I am beyond excited to share that I, too, was able to complete this course with zero prior coding knowledge. Matt is thorough, clear, and teaches at a comfortable pace. I plan to enroll in the advance course next and will be recommending SheCodes to everyone I know!
SheCodes was very hands on. In the challenges and homework, the lesson videos gave enough insight to complete most of what was required but it also pushed me to find some solutions on my own either in the slack community or through google.

I enjoyed the beginner workshop because the format allowed me to go at my own pace. I could go back and watch the lessons as many times as I needed. Matt was great because he would teach a lesson, but not always show how to get the full solution. This forced me to find the answer, which helped me learn.
Through these past three weeks, I went from having zero knowledge or confidence in my coding skills, and now I am able to understand the basic structure of web development! It was really great to have a community of women to ask questions to and watch each of us learn a new skill.
Wow! What a wild ride. I signed up for the SheCodes workshop on a whim; I'd played around with HTML/CSS and was interested in learning a bit more. This course was the perfect tool. Matt did an excellent job of breaking up the information in "bite sized" pieces and explaining it in a way that was easy to follow/understand. The challenges after each lesson help the information "stick" and the Slack channel really helps you feel like you're part of a community. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone even remotely interested in the world of coding. I'm definitely considering doing more workshops!
The various challenges and homework assignments were set up in a good sequence. I found the videos very helpful to learn from. Overall, I feel like the intro course covered a lot in three weeks and did it without being overwhelming!

I had very minimal background in html from previous social media design, but I love how in-depth this class got. Everyone was super helpful and very patient whenever I had questions. I love that this class is semi-self paced, it allowed me to go back and review material.
I had tried other free beginner coding tools but I was not retaining the information as well. I applied for SheCodes and was accepted and in the last three weeks, my knowledge of coding has grown so much! I loved the breakdown and will possibly sign up for another workshop in the future. After being in the retail/customer service industry for nearly 12 years I was ready for the change I so badly needed. I already have some python coding skills but I wanted to define my future career and take the bull by the horns. I started to look up coding boot camps and workshops that fit my schedule and that's when I came across SheCodes. SheCodes was the perfect match to my already packed schedule and due to the Covid-19 pandemic it was about to get more hectic with my kids' remote learning. The content on SheCodes Workshop was easy to understand and allows you to do it at your pace. I'm working my way to become a full-stack engineer and this is only the beginning.

After surviving two brain aneurysms and two brain surgeries, my goal was to learn new things and make the most of life. I challenged myself to learn web development. I tried several learning methods but could never fully grasp the material. SheCodes provided the tools and projects that helped me better understand the material! I am not gonna lie, I was really skeptical with this idea.I started SheCodes workshop with 0(zero) knowledge of coding. I was already preparing to quit and not even started yet. SheCodes has been fun and informative. I look forward to learning more. I paid for the entire workshop and after 3 weeks I still don't regret it and I don't think I ever will. The instructors get back to you super quickly if you have any questions. Matt is very clear in his videos and I find that he sets you up for success by offering plenty of resources.
