SheCodes Coding Workshop Reviews

I must say that the last few weeks were very interesting and full of new discoveries. Who would have thought coding was so much fun and at the same time also frustrating. Especially when your own knowledge on the subject is lacking or you just need to find a solution to a problem that seams giant at first but then is just a typo (mostly). I am so happy I took the time this year to learn a new skill and try out coding back in April with SheCodes Workshop and continued with SheCodes Plus. I can not wait to see what coding future I can discover and learn some more about programming. Thank you Team SheCodes for support and hard work reading our messy codes :D and thx to Matt for the videos on the subjects.

I have had so much fun learning to code. Although I have definitely found some of the modules hard, I have really enjoyed figuring out how to do it and solving problems. As someone with (what I thought was) good computer knowledge, SheCodes has opened my eyes to so much more. As a student ready to start University, I have experienced some of what my degree may offer me. It has also became a hobby I wish to partake in as much as possible and expand my computer science knowledge further. Even if you are still on the fence about learning coding or trying something new, I would simply say go for it!!! Thank you Matt nad to the SheCodes team 👩‍💻

Having neatly zero knowledge of programming language before march 2020, in a couple of weeks through SheCodes and SheCodes Plus courses I managed to start taking my baby steps on the programming world. SheCodes Plus is a huge step forward, compared to SheCodes introduction. I would highly recommend taking this next level to get more confident and comfortable with CSS and HTML, but mostly to develop your JavaScript Skills. On SheCodes plus, not only you learn the tolls, skills and resources to be more independent in coding. You also learn how to use GitHub, host your projects online and, more importantly understand how these tools can also help you boost your CV and showcase your projects to potential employers! I cannot describe how helpful and how much did I learned during these last 8 weeks. It was extraordinary and allowed me to feel so much more empowered. Now, I can't wait to proceed with React! Again, I find Matt a really good tutor and the supporting Slack Team extraordinary. They have been an undeniable asset on this journey.

The online classes were very informative coupled with help from Slack, I was able to learn a lot thru mistakes and advice. The SheCodes website works well and assistance is amazing (they go all out to help you even on weekends!!). I went on to create mini-apps just as a self-learning journey. Right when I entered the first workshop, I knew I wanted to go further into coding so I applied for SheCodes Plus. What a ride! It's such a wonderful thing to know that we are capable of always pushing ourselves more and more... I discovered SheCodes by chance. A friend knew I was interested in learning how to code and she told me than she saw an advertisement for SheCodes. So I decided to give it a try and I must say that it was the best decision I could do. Before I thought that coding would be extremely challenging for me but after this course, I found out not only that I really like coding but also that everyone can do it, especially with Matt's courses. The course is amazing, very easy to follow, complete in all details and with immediate support from the team in case of need. Will definitely continue with the plus workshop. Thanks again Matt.

Thanks to the SheCodes team, my new interest has turned into a passion! The curriculum is well designed and presents the same concepts in different ways to really drive home your understanding for the coding language works.SheCodes also challenges you to discover new concepts outside of the program and use them in the challenges.

Writing code was a daunting task for for me at first. With almost no IT experience, I didn’t know where to begin or what questions to ask, and it was a roller-coaster of attempts & emotions. SheCodesPlus replied to many of my questions, managing to keep me interested for more! The best part was that I could completely trust their team for real-time support. I really enjoyed these three weeks, I started to understand something that I thought for long time was difficult. Matt is a great teacher and of course the SheCode team as well is amazing. That was an interesting course for learning the basics. I liked the setting and the presentations. Sometimes I felt overwhelmed by the amount of content, but actually it is not a big deal. It is like everywhere in life: the more you practice, the better you become. I had fun during that course as well... and this is said by someone who totally disliked IT and coding beforehand because of shi*** experience at University. I really enjoyed the introduction to coding with SheCodes! I had been thinking about changing into product management for a long time but wasn't sure if I would like the coding aspects of it. I was really doubting if I would be able to do it and what's more important if I would enjoy it. These last few weeks have been extremely interesting and exciting for me. I had so much fun learning and creating new things. I find coding very rewarding as you see the results of your work almost immediately. I especially loved the final project as you get the chance to create something on your own and get to be really creative. The videos provided by Matt were very easy to follow and I learned a lot in such a short time! The community provided by SheCodes is great as you can both find help and help others! It feels like a safe space to ask any questions if you ever get stuck and you always get very quick feedback from the nice SheCodes team if the other girls can't help you out. I would absolutely recommend SheCodes and I am so much looking forward to continuing my learning in SheCodes Plus!

LOVED IT! I have been wanting to try coding to see if I liked it for a while but I was reluctant as I had no previous experience whatsoever with coding and I had no idea if it would be something I could actually do, or enjoy. I watched the SheCodes Video and decided that I would give it a try. Surprisingly, I enjoyed this 3 months more than I was expecting as the videos are easy to follow, Matt gives you great advice and if we get stuck, we can always count on the team to help us out on Slack. It was challenging at times, but also very rewarding when you get to see the result of something you have built. The project at the end was a lot of fun because it was more personal. After participating in the "SheCodes Workshop", I became eager to learn more about coding, a world I had never stepped into before, which is why I decided to do the "SheCodes Plus" one. The classes are well structured and easy to follow! The information is provided progressively, so you don't feel overwhelmed. Also, Matt shares plenty of tools, tips and tricks that will help you better understand how things work! I'm also very thankful for the team and all the volunteers, who were always very kind and helpful, and for our slack community, ;)! I enjoyed the learning process, and I'm motivated to keep improving and evolving :)

SheCodes workshop was an amazing experience I would highly recommend! The easy to follow course videos, challenges and homework assignments on HTML, CSS and JavaScript are the perfect preparation for the final project at the end. In my opinion the best part of the workshop, as you get the opportunity to be creative, while combining all the skills you learned and get this revised by the SheCodes team. Excited to improve my skills and create even more amazing projects!

I did the 3 weeks workshop and I wanted to learn, practice and to know more about coding. This learning experience has been better than I ever expected. It really challenged me. With online workshops sometimes is hard to stay motivated, but the challenges, the homeworks, the SheCodes team and the Slack chat makes it easy. The SheCodes team provides all the support that we need during the all workshop and Matt is a great instructor. I loved it and look forward to the next workshop.

I signed up for Introduction to Coding hoping to improve my coding skills...but I left with so much more. I learned HTML5, CSS3 and ES6 to enhance my UX and web design knowledge and skills. Now I can communicate with development teams more efficiently and effectively. I look forward to continuing on to the Plus workshop to gain further proficiency.

I highly encourage anyone who is thinking about enrolling on this course, to do so. In today's day and age, I believe it is crucial to have some basic knowledge of coding. Whether if you want to inform yourself about this subject or embarking on a career change, I can safely say this course is for you. I found the course to be both intellectually challenging yet fun at the same time. Matt allows you to follow his examples in a very clear manner but also gives you the freedom of changing the code according to your preferences. The challenge after each lesson serves as very good practice and allows you to do your own research online. The internal chat between all students allows you to ask questions and/or answer queries permitting the experience to be a participative and collective one. I decided to enroll for the course because I was curious about what coding is all about, now I stand ever more interested in furthering and developing my knowledge in this exciting and rewarding field. I have always had interest in learning how to code, especially for designing and creating websites/apps. I had previously tried to learn coding through other platforms, but never really got the support I needed in order to actually put all the theory into practice. I am impressed on how Matt and his team make learning how to code in such a fun and easy way. Finally created my first free-style webpage with the intro course and I am ready to continue with the next workshops! 💃🏽

The beginner workshop gives you a great idea of how to start working with coding really fells like and Matt is amazing at each one of the classes. The videos go straight to the point and he encourages us to learn and try by ourselves, giving tips and clues of how somethings can work and also showing us his way of thinking after the activity is done. The SheCodes team is spectacular on answering our questions on time and the community just makes us more excited about the final project.

I absolutely loved this SheCodes workshop! Throughout the 3 weeks, I felt that I was part of an active community between the other students and the SheCodes team, all willing to help each other in this fascinating journey of coding :) I really liked the lessons where Matt explained everything in a simple, yet meaningful way with even tips of what developers are doing currently. I would highly recommend these workshops to all! I have tried in-person coding classes before and found them to be quite confusing. I am so glad that I took a leap and decided to learn it online with SheCodes. Uau! This workshop was such an adventure! I loved every part of it... There is something really unique and special about coding and seeing one's ideias become reality with a "simple" line of code. I know what you are thinking... "SIMPLE?? Hummm Hummm...Have you forgotten about "addEventListener" or "function whatIsWrongWithMyCode"???" No I haven´t! And yes, I will have to admit that it was not that simple all the times... Therefore I shall rephrase it to "challenging yet adventurous!" There is something really unique and special about coding and seeing one's ideias become reality with a "challenging yet adventurous" line of code (Indeed, much more accurate!) But in the end, I really enjoyed this workshop and I can´t wait to learn more about coding. I am pretty sure that I´ve made my team of Developers proud! I saw an add for SheCodes online and it instantly caught my eye. I currently work as a Business Analyst within an IT Dept and was looking to learn some extra skills. It's been almost 15 yrs since I learned any type of HTML and I was worried I wouldn't be able to squeeze it into my busy schedule. However SheCodes breaks each lesson into digestible parts which allows you to complete them throughout the day at your own pace. I love the Slack community and found it extremely helpful to search when I needed assistance. The challenges for each lesson and homework due each week was very beneficial and helped keep me on task! I enjoyed working on my project and discovered I truly love working with the design of websites. The feeling of accomplishment I get from completing this course is very inspiring and I think I have found my new favorite hobby that is actually productive. Who knows what the future holds! In barely 3 weeks, we've learned how to build a basic HMTL page in Visual Studio Code, and this is all thanks to @Matt Delac and the SheCodes team 👩🏼‍💻. SheCodes Plus was a great learning experience! In just a few weeks we're able to deepen our HTML/CSS/JS knowledge, use GIT and GitHub, (finally) understand what an API really does, and put the development workflow we learnt in practice by building a weather app from scratch. I've had an amazing experience with SheCodes. I knew absolutely nothing about coding before joining SheCodes, and after just 3 weeks, I've been able to design my very own landing page using HTML, CSS as well as JAVA Script. It has been really fun, and the mentors are super helpful. A superbly constructed online course, the lessons are fast, not boring and easy to understand. And having the interactive help of the community and the team at all times is valuable.

I have always been wondering how websites are made. This course finally revealed the mystery to me and even taught me how to do it myself. At first, I was worried that it might be too difficult, but the lessons are easy to understand and teach you all the basics in small steps. Theory as well as practical exercises are equally included. I have always wanted to learn to code in any way possible, but never knew how or where to start. I know problem of a century. Covid-19 solved this problem for me by giving me time to actually find a course that sounded interesting, and oh boy this past 3 weeks by SheCodes flew by like a lightning. Matt and his team are great and there is a chat support if you need it  Thank you Lexi for kind words, questions like: How are you doing with project or homework? I hope that you also have it available after the Corona virus outbreak if possible otherwise I hope to meet you all in person one day. Take care and have fun coding guys!

SheCodes Plus was a great challenge and a rewarding experience. Every week includes courses and exercises that allows you to learn and to build, step-by-step, your own application. SheCodes team was very helpful when I had questions and they check on your evolution during the course. It's very positive that there is flexibility in what regards deadlines, because you are able to manage your time and balance SheCodes courses with your professional life.

I have been trying to learn how to code for about a year now, but due to my crazy job schedule I haven't been able to find a course that fits my needs. SheCodes was the best experience I could have ever hoped for. Matt and his team were ALWAYS available to help, even with the time difference. The videos were clear and concise and I never felt confused by what he was teaching us. I will recommend this course to anyone who will listen and I am so incredibly grateful for this opportunity.

SheCodes is a wonderful program. The tutorials are great and the homework is challenging but very doable.
