I am 25 and a stay at home mom. I came across SheCodes on a social platform. I really appreciated that they had a free 1 hour class to discuss what they do, how they work, and how easy it can be to learn coding, through them. Being a stay at home mom has its difficulties, and I really appreciated that it wasn't time consuming. It did still take lots of effort, but I finished the basic course, and really LOVED my entire experience. I have found a new love in the world of coding and the opportunities it can bring me and my family. I cannot wait to see what's to come after this. I am a lot of things, a designer a model, a dreamer... the list could go on but ultimately I am a creative. A few months before this course I did some learning on freecodecamp.org and then moved to shecodes.io just to experiment with the idea before committing to an actual degree in Web Systems. I am currently studying in college and I am so much ahead in my courses I am taking all thanks to the help of SheCodes. I've taken some time in the world to decide what I want in life and within that process I found a love for coding. I specifically want to pursue a career in cloud computing. I also want to learn/experiment with the integration of animation in web sites. I look forward to learning more and plan to do many more workshops to further my knowledge! My interest in coding began in late 2022, whilst I was in my third year of University. I realised that I had little passion for my major and wanted to find something new that would spark passion within me. I had thought about going back to university after I graduated to study an MBA or something in finance. But, 2022 was a year of exploration and self discovery for me, I had met a lot of friends within the tech industry, who suggested I look into coding and that coding was a great field for women. So, I did just that. I began my research and saw an overwhelming amount of different positions within the tech industry. Immediately, I was drawn to the idea of cybersecurity and began to do a course on that on freeCodeCamp but it was overwhelmingly difficult and frustrating. I gave up as quickly as I had began. Then, I return after I had written my final year exams and went back to my research, I looked for advice from the large online coding community and everyone had advised to start with web development, as it was the foundation of understanding coding and breaking into the industry. So, I started again, watching Youtube videos, following along with them as they began to code, and at first, it was overwhelming but it made a lot more sense this time since I was taking baby steps. I spent a month being self taught, assimilating the different markup languages, wanting to perfect them before I added Javascript to my roster. I went on Tiktok and found my community in 'Black women in Tech-tok', that's when I came across SheCodes for the first time. I always knew I was a learner that needed a roadmap with structure, so I knew I would thrive in an online school or course, so I knew SheCodes would be for me. I had a stable enough understanding of HTML and CSS and SheCodes helped me begin to understand the ropes of Javascript and I'm excited to learn more, know more and grow with SheCodes. This is only the beginning of my journey with our amazing instructor Matt and the SheCodes team.
I enjoyed this coding workshop a lot and I highly recommend it to beginners. In my opinion, everyone should know how to code and the SheCodes team is doing a great job teaching it. I am looking forward to advanced coding with Matt Delac.

I was in Tech Sales for around 12 years, but I always knew that was not my happy place. Another successful SheCodes workshop. Matt has made it so easy to learn how to code as well as troubleshoot so when you hit a bump in the road, you have the necessary tools to solve your own problems. Even if you get really stuck and don't know where to turn, Matts team members are always available to answer questions on our code as well as Athena the brand new coding AI bot.

I am really glad that I decided to take this course. I have been curious about coding for a long time and, as a PM on maternity leave, I was nervous about learning something new at the moment. Matt is a great teacher and the team does a fantastic job supporting you. I learned more than I expected and I was impressed to be able to build my first "landing page" after only 3 weeks. I loved the fact that the course`s structure pushes you to be creative and to try to find solutions yourself from day 1. After this introduction to HTML, CSS, and JavaScript I am definitely motivated to challenge myself in the future with more advanced classes!

A friend of mine mentioned SheCodes during a conversation about skills, so I did the free class, which I enjoyed a lot, and signed up for the basics course right away. However, at the same time, I changed jobs. As I was very busy in the transition period, I kept postponing the deadline. I was afraid I would never meet the deadlines while working full time job and other having other hobbies. 2023 came and so a new resolution: stop postponing SheCodesBasics! And I'm so glad I finally did the course! It turns out it was easier and more manageable than I thought!!! The fact that is broken down in small topics with short videos helps you to manage your time (I think it also helped that I got a bit addicted π). Thank you Matt and SheCodes Team!
I am very proud to know the Shecodes team and it was a great chance for me to learn about coding. I was very satisfied with Mr. Matt Delac's teaching method, and with the structure of his teaching, there is no reason to fear the difficulty of coding.
Coding the React dictionary App was another challenge that made me understand React better. The SheCodes workshop's have come to an end. Looking back, I have learned to code from scratch, thanks to Matt and his SheCodes Team! I keep referring new women to SheCodes. Especially trying to reach my Namibian people to join via the Delac Foundation.
This was a great intro to coding and I'm glad I participated! The format was simple to follow and the weekly challenges were well explained and kept me motivated.
