I am an Afghan girl who loves coding. When I found the "she codes" program, it changed my life. "she codes" taught me coding skills through classes and support from teachers. Before this, coding was very difficult for me. But the teachers at "she codes" helped me learn step-by-step. Now I have good coding skills and confidence to work in technology. "she codes" also connected me with other Afghan girls who love coding. This program has given me the chance to do what I love, even as a girl in Afghanistan. This was a nice easy-to-follow course in bite-size pieces, with which you slowly but surely build up the different skills needed to put together a page at the end of each week. You then put everything that you have learnt in the course in a final project at the end, which is very satisfying. Matt is a good teacher too, nice voice with clear instructions and very encouraging.

I was introduced to SheCodes by a friend, being 44 years of age I was a bit skeptical to apply for the fear that I wasn't going to understand or grasp anything but boy oh boy was I wrong! I thought coding was not my cup of tea until I found SheCodes. Matt is a really great teacher and the lessons are easy to follow. Each week we have to do assignments which make it clear that we really get the point of each lessons.

At first it seemed a little intimidating as I have never done anything of this nature previously. However, the teacher/instructor made understanding the coursework a lot easier with how everything was explained as well as the examples that were provided. I really enjoyed working through the work.
At a glance, Python can seem intimidating, but once you learn to read and code Python, it's really beautiful and fun. Matt is an excellent teacher and communicator and has made the learning process less stressful. I love that I can see that I'm surrounded by other students, so I don't feel alone in the journey.

Despite this course being more challenging compared to the Basic and the Basics Add-on courses, I thoroughly enjoyed becoming more confident and creative with the final project. Matt is an amazing teacher, and I cannot recommend SheCodes enough if you want to get into coding.
I found SheCodes in 2020, I didn't apply for it because I thought I would not like web development and I am pretty busy. Fast forward, to this year 2024, I chose to try it out, I applied for the Delac Foundation and thanks be to God I got in! It is an honor to be part of this program, I fell in love with programming HTML, CSS, and JavaScript once again. I did code a little before but always gave up halfway. This is a good platform for everybody and I highly recommend it to everyone venturing out in web development. Python Advanced was a tough one, especially at the final project. An advantage to learning it through SheCodes is that Matt explains the process well, and talks through what he has done to ensure it soaks in. Matt really puts you at ease regarding making errors, and really just encourages you to keep trying, and backtrack if needed. I've said it before, but he is a great teacher and that makes half of the course.

I enjoyed working with data and syncing it to the Data Visualization, but I think that for an Advanced course, maybe we could have done a more sophisticated project. The skills in Data Visualization are a pretty comprehensive start, but I was expecting more I must say. Maybe I misunderstood the course concept. Either way, I do enjoy SheCodes and like Matt as a teacher π»
