This SheCodes Plus workshop has been a great course with lots of challenges and triumphs. When we started working on a Weather app during week one of SheCodes plus, the task seemed very intimidating. Especially the requirement to incorporate real time data. Matt did an excellent job breaking down the daunting task into comprehensible lessons. At the end of the course, my Weather app project no longer felt intimidating rather, it was quite fun to work with. It felt easy enough to work on, that I challenged myself to build two additional themes for the app. I love the challenges at the end of most lessons, testing frequently is one of the best ways to retain and recall new information. What an exciting and yet a bit challenging the Plus-Add On workshop has been! I have now built "A world clock" using javaScript and it feels really good to have been able to use JS at an advanced level. Over the last two weeks, Iβve been working on an exciting project, building a World Clock application using moment.tz, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, hosted on Netlify and managed through GitHub. This project has been an incredible learning experience for me. After 2.5 months of working on and finishing two projects β a Weather App that provides real-time data and now the World Clock, I can confidently say that my understanding of coding and app development has improved significantly. With the World Clock project, I was able to integrate different time zones, show the current time in multiple cities, and even find my own location in real time. β¨ Milestone reached: SheCodes Plus successfully completed! β¨ I've completed the SheCodes Plus module, taking further steps into the world of programming - with a course that not only taught me HTML, CSS, JavaScript and API basics, but also a lot about patience and perseverance. π€― I've always found it exciting to see how beautiful and functional websites and apps are created from endless lines of code. As a media designer, I'm familiar with design, but backend? That was completely new territory for me! And since I work in an IT company, I also wanted to better understand how web design works. π» My new skills and insights: π‘ HTML, CSS, JavaScript and API basics - of course! π‘ Patience and frustration tolerance: After hours of pondering, you realize you were missing a ; π ... π‘ Self-discipline: An online course offers a lot of flexibility, but that also means you have to keep at it! π‘ Structured & creative thinking - for me, this is the key to implementing ideas and solving problems. I am particularly proud of my final project, the BreezyBlue Weather App. π¦οΈ Here I was able to bring all the new knowledge together and develop a web app that retrieves data via API and displays it in the interface I created myself. That was a huge learning step for me, and it was great fun! Would I recommend the course? Definitely! SheCodes creates a great learning environment for women who want to venture into the tech world. The modules are flexible and there is always support from the community. πͺπ©βπ» I'm looking forward to the next SheCodes modules and which project I get to work on next! π₯
SheCodes Plus took things to a higher level, really learnt a whole lot more and I cannot use your learnings in the practical world and create more projects
Shecodes plus was very challenging but there isn't a nicer feeling than when you overcome those challenges and see your code finally working after trying for hours. I got to learn, do mistakes and learn again. I am very happy with my coding journey so far maybe it's because i love a challenge and shecodes lets me have as many challenges as i need. Thank you, Matt sir, for your humour. I always find myself laughing while learning which uplifts my spirit π
