I really enjoyed the SheCodes Basics course. It’s structured so well that even if you start with zero experience, you never feel lost or out of place. The lessons are straightforward, and I liked that you actually build something after every new skill: no endless theory, just hands-on practice. being myself a woman of action, I greatly appreciated that. What surprised me was how quickly I started feeling confident editing code and making things look and work how I wanted. The challenges are genuinely fun, and it’s satisfying to see your progress week after week. I also appreciated the little details: clear instructions, good examples, and a friendly atmosphere. If I had to nitpick, I wish there was a bit more about design best practices or how to take your projects to the next level. But as a starter, this course delivers exactly what it promises: a strong foundation and the sense that “hey, I can do this!” Definitely recommend it if you want to learn coding in a way that feels practical and encouraging.

As part of the curriculum, I built a fully functional dictionary app—what seemed like a simple project at first turned out to be quite complex. From handling asynchronous API calls to managing dynamic states and integrating audio pronunciation features, the challenges pushed me to really dive deep into React’s ecosystem. What I appreciated most was how the course encouraged exploration beyond just the basics. I experimented with custom hooks, conditional rendering, and different approaches to managing global state. I am so glad I took 'SheCodes Plus' prior to learning Python. I was familiar with so many of the core functions, thanks to stumbling through JavaScript the previous lesson. Matt often made the mistake of saying JS 'arrays' when referring to PY 'lists'. This was an unintentional blessing because it was hammering in previously learned concepts without trying! Python has a much easier flow than JS, so I enjoyed the ease in that. However, it is its own language, so it requires you to focus. I strongly recommend using the Pomodoro Technique to get through this workshop. Happy coding :)
