It is always requires a lot of courage to make a step towards your dreams. For me, IT was always a broad concept associated with excessive amount of terms and rules and you need to know which one to choose from millions of them to implement into functionable project. Seemed pretty difficult until I decided not to judge the book by its cover. I am pretty excited that I made a decision to start coding with SheCodes. Since the very start the team led by instructor Matt was super supportive. Matt has this ability to put it straight to the core making the process of learning fun and efficient.

In the beginning starting the foundation, it was exciting to start learning something new but at the same time anxious because I did not know anything about coding. Getting started with the workshops under the leadership and guidance of Mat has been great because he explains very well and it is easy to understand his teaching method. Doing the homework and projects was challenging but a good way to practice what was taught.

SheCodes Plus was another incredibly valuable workshop. This online workshop format delivers well-structured and sophisticated content, which has been motivating and interesting since day one. Learning the fundamentals of HTML, page styling with advanced CSS techniques and page animation with more sophisticated JavaScript functions and applying those techniques instantaneously on a real-life project is a perfect way of taking it all in. Learning how to integrate APIs into my code fetching real data and how to get into a development workflow using code management tools that professionals use, felt pretty amazing, while designing and building my own fully functioning weather app.
Another fantastic SheCodes workshop - every lesson is perfectly explained with internal and external resources. Great structure, easy to follow, and each section focuses on building and practising the necessary skills for the final project. Love creating these projects!

The first couple of weeks of React were tough and confusing. I'd gotten to the point where I felt quite confident using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, but it felt like starting from scratch. I'm so glad I stuck with it, and would highly recommend this course. I really liked that the final project was a React version of the SheCodes Plus final project; having some familiarity with the project (API calls etc) made the React aspects a little easier.

My goal in 2020 was to study software engineering, which I ended up not doing because I struggled with school acceptance and tuition fees. Me being accepted to study with Delac Foundation is really a dream come through. Since starting the program I've learnt a lot and doing projects to grow my knowledge and skills.
This is my second SheCodes Add-on, which I found quite important, due to the complexities of learning how to understand universal time zones or the world clock. From what I hear other software engineers say, time zones can be tricky and troublesome when you run into problems with different rules and combinations of rules. I highly recommend trying this course and getting familiar with coding dates and times. I had fun with this project!

It was interesting to update date and time elements without API. I found some bits harder to grasp without the detail such as split and replace. However, it did cover most of what was covered in SheCodes-Plus so it was good to put into practice the learning in the add-on project.
Another fantastic workshop and end project. There were parts of this that I found a little difficult but after going back and working through what I did It didnt take long to find the problem. I enjoyed this project lots of fun and feels really good to have built something that looks as if Id find it on any big travel site!

WOW SheCodes Plus has been one hell of a journey π I'm so proud of my weather app! π There were times I thought I might throw my laptop out the window but then I would find the bug causing the problem and honestly, this is the most satisfying feeling. It's funny how convinced you can get that the whole thing is just wrong and it'll literally be ONE semi-colon or something equally tiny that's missing that breaks the whole thing. Anyway, thanks again Matt, your ability to deliver complex information in bitesize chunks is great and being able to see our project get upgraded more and more as we apply what we're learning is a great way to see our skillset grow. I'm still challenged by a lot of the JS stuff but the repetition involved has gotten me to a point I didn't think I would ever get to when I first started SheCodes Plus.

I must say that the final project has been one of my favorite things I've completed this year so far. I feel inspired and motivated to continue learning.

Building the weather application in React was tricky but the step-by-step videos broke down the process. I am proud that I have learnt to use React and used functions, use states and Axios for this project.
