SheCodes Coding Workshop Reviews

I was super nervous to learn React but the SheCodes curriculum really broke it apart into learnable & attainable bits and slowly integrated them all together. Mentally it was hard to switch gears to React from JS but once you practiced and it got familiar it was neat to see all the cool things you can do using React. This course is a must if you want to know and understand how to use & build react apps. It really helped to open both windows and code right beside Matt as he was doing it real time.

It's been an amazing coding adventure!!! Big thanks to Matt Delac and all team for this chance!

The best course I have ever taken! Love the explanation and a choice of project work. React was a bit difficult for me, but I understood everything that Matt talked about and successfully managed my Weather Project and Dictionary Project. In addition I made them responsive. I will definitely recommend to take React course after Responsive, trust me ^^

I decided to take SheCodes Basic as a complete novice in coding. I am sooo happy that I took the plunge! It was a bit challenging but with grit and lots of patience, I was able to complete the course with time to spare. I recommend to anyone that is considering learning coding to pick a path and dive in. Matt is a great instructor and having videos to refer to whenever you need was so helpful.

Thanks to SheCodes, I took my first steps in learning to code. There is still a lot of work to do, but I hope that under Matt's wise guidance, I can do it.

The course is great for beginners. Thank you very much to the team of SheCodes and to the teacher Matt for the knowledge which was received. I enjoyed learning and doing my homework. Sometimes it was difficult (especially the last big project lol) but it doesn't mean that it wasn't enjoyable. The team via email and on Slack was very nice and helpful.

Today I finished my 1st SheCodes workshop, 3 more to go!! A few weeks ago i decided to started my journey with SheCodes workshop 👩‍💻 "Introduction to coding". It was a great experience learning HTML, CSS, JavaScript and VS Code. Before I started learning, I had no experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and VS Code. Glad I signed-up for SheCodes workshop and very excited to gain more experience in the Tech. industry. Matthieu Delac has made it so easy to learn through videos (online learning) that even a person with no tech. background can do it.

My pivot from the world of Education to Technology was swift and rewarding. I found that you can start over many times, in tech, as each new language requires a new understanding. SheCodes made an immediate impact on my ability to understand the foundations of coding in HTML/CSS/JavaScript. SheCodes gave me the opportunity to try coding the first time one year ago, with the "Introduction to Coding" workshop. I'm a QA who doesn't necessarily need coding knowledge. But I did introduction to coding course a year ago just as a change for my routine work. I enjoyed it. This experience pushed me to think about proper coding which would give bit of knowledge on how to develop an application. So just dared to take up next level and joined SheCodesPlus. This course has given me a confidence of developing an app from scratch. I'm feeling great after completing today. This is opened new doors for new opportunities in tech field for me. This was a very nice, beneficial and enriching coding course which exceeded my expectations! :) As a complete newbie into coding I was a bit afraid in the beginning I would not make it and understand everything, but Matt is really explaining everything very clearly and nicely and all the materials are also very helpful. It was not easy, especially in the beginning to cope with all the new information, but after a while, with some practicing and personal effort, it gets just better and will actually bring you some real joy seeing your own nice coding results :) Really glad I went for this workshop and definitely not end of my newly discovered coding journey :)

I started SheCodes because I have been looking for a change in career. I graduated with my nursing degree in 2017 and have been working ever since. Needless to say, the last few years has been extremely difficult and quit my job due to burnout. I had been looking tirelessly for something new when I stumbled upon the SheCodes intro course. After these first few weeks doing the basic workshop, I finally feel excited and passionate about something again. Matt makes coding so approachable. I can't wait to start the next course!

I was originally going to take another computing course, but only came across an instagram ad and was like 'oh, let's just check them out and see'. Never did I know that I'd be joining the SheCodes Basics class 2-days later, I honestly learned so much during the 3 weeks. I'm not much a fan of online classes, but Matt explains things so well it's honestly so good being a part of this. It's so fun, the challenges and the weekly assignments are so useful and so fun, I love to learn new things--so, the challenges really help motivate this whole experience. Also, the idea of having Slack and getting involved with other students' questions, and giving help is honestly just great--a lot of other online classes don't have this sort of community where students are able to help one another. I can't wait to explore the other courses in the upcoming months!

SheCodes changed my life immensely! I worked really hard, and so did they. The agile structure of the Bootcamp, the way they actively tune in to the local community, and the knowledge, experience and care Matt and his team exhibited all worked toward making my Bootcamp experience a fantastic one for learning responsive web pages. The curriculum was laid out in a way that builds naturally into the next step. It's not rocket science, but even if it was, rocket science could be learned if someone takes the time to present the concepts to you in easily accessible pieces as SheCodes does for every workshop.

I am very grateful to Matt for giving me the opportunity to study here for free. I am from Ukraine and for me it was very valuable to study for free. Two weeks ago, I got a job as an intern at an American marketing company as a web/seo specialist. For me, this is a very big opportunity in 3 months I can get a full-time job as a web developer. This was my first time ever trying to code and Matt was a great instructor with straight forward and easy to follow lessons. I really enjoyed the course and had fun learning from it and from other students on Slack. I had a great time with SheCodes. All tasks were not very easy, but Matt made the coding clear. Also you have to pay attention to the details, it's really important and be self taught to learn some CSS rules, tags etc. It's not hard with Matt though. He shows the right way how to do it right.

It was a cool experience working on a weather website. It was quite a challenge, but thanks to Matt and the entire SheCodes team, I managed it. Even if you don't understand something, you can always ask the mentors in Slack and get a quick answer. It's a real treat when you see a website come to life thanks to the code. Loved SheCodes Basic! Short and straightforward videos with clear explanations and simple examples specifically designed training material for beginners and advanced students alike. Extra info with links at the bottom of each video where you can learn more. Who knew that it would be more difficult to decide on the colors you want to use for your final project than the coding part itself 😅. Good thing Matt has a solution for that too with SheCodes Color Palettes and CSS Gradients. Thank you Matt & SheCodes team!

Before joining SheCodes i was a little scared of Javascript as i have heard people say it was very tough. The lessons taught by Matt, were super clear and manageable. Having the slack team available for when we got stuck was so nice, and helped keep up morale and motivation toward learning more and having fun doing it. Outside of that the other SheCodes resources, such as the gradient and palette features, and shecodes radio rocked ! Most importantly, they were really understanding with timing; I needed extensions due to health concerns and power outages, and they made it really easy and stress-free to request more time. 10/10 would recommend.
