SheCodes Coding Workshop Reviews

SheCodes Plus was a great extension to what I learnt in the Workshop course. I enjoyed the challenges and problem solving I did while working on my final project, and I'm very pleased with the result.

SheCodes Workshop segments introductions to HTML, CSS and JavaScript in a way I was able to understand and learn at a decent pace. I'm looking forward to SheCodes Plus and SheCodes React.

I was definitely one of those people who thought coding would be ridiculously hard. It is learning a new "language", after all. However, Matt makes these courses succinct enough to grasp the concepts and practice on your own with homework, and does a great job explaining the tougher lines of code which could get tricky. The work was definitely engaging and it was really fun crafting my own landing page. I thought this 3 week course was the perfect way to get my feet wet in the world of coding. I can't wait to start SheCodes Plus!

I have learned a ton and Matt was a very good instructor. I am considering completing the entire course...I also found his tips on where to search, recommendations for different programs, etc., very helpful.

I've been interested in learning code for a while, but it always seemed intimidating. The lessons on SheCodes are set up so well! It was fun to watch everything unfold and I felt confident experimenting on my own. Matt not only teaches you how to do things, he also teaches you how to figure things out if you run into something you aren't so familiar with. Those resources make everything less intimidating because I knew I could find the answer. And having a community to connect with via slack was very helpful!!

It was very fun to learn to code. The courses are very easy to understand and I could watch the videos and do the challenges whenever I had some free time from work.

I have really loved my SheCodes experience and have found the course extremely useful and a lot of fun! I have really appreciated being able to learn in my own time, at my own pace but with a target deadline at the end of every week. The flexibility has worked perfectly for me since I work full-time and the set deadlines have kept me motivated. The lessons are a good length and explained well. The practical challenges, homework and final assignments which follow these offer enough of a challenge to feel like you are learning something but not too difficult that you feel overwhelmed. The SheCodes platform has been very friendly and approachable to use and I have looked forward to every lesson and every challenge. It's very satisfying when you get it right! Many thanks to Matt whose videos have been very clear and easy to follow. He's a great teacher who explains things well and makes the whole experience fun. I'm looking forward to starting the Plus course now!

After pursuing SheCodes workshop, I decided to keep learning code with SheCodes Plus and I did not regret it. It was a very enriching experience and also rewarding : I made my first fully functional weather app. What an accomplishment!

SheCodes Plus Coding Workshop was such a great experience. I had a lot of fun learning new things. And I think coding will be a part of my life in the future. I'm really looking forward to start SheCodes React!!! 👩🏼‍💻

I learned programming from scratch here. I can absolutely recommend the course because the individual steps are explained very well and it was just so much fun to experiment with the new knowledge and see the direct results. Perfect combination of theory and practice.

I started this course as a complete novice and can't believe how much I have learned in such a short period. The structure of the course and weekly deadlines kept me motivated and accountable to my learning. I have fallen in love with coding and can't wait to continue.

SheCodes experience was one of the most useful learning workshop that I did take part in. I am very happy with the way how it has been build. I give it 10/10 score for short lessons and after project to do plus check by admins. Amazing Job! 👏

I'm absolutely amazed at this course!! I can't believe that I learned basic coding and I'm really proud of myself for learning a new skill set. It was easy to keep up and understand the lessons. I could always rewind back and review whenever I wanted. I love how Matt provided walkthroughs on the solution. My family and friends are really impressed with what I was able to create in 3wks of doing this course. When I showed my 8yr old what I created he was really blown away. He's taking a coding course as well, and I think this just gave him the motivation, that you're able to accomplish anything if you put in time and dedication to it. I'll definitely look into taking an upgraded course for sure!

Fantastic course! SheCodes is a fantastic way for beginners to learn about coding and how to code! The tutorials and videos are so helpful and the mini-challenges are great for implementation of the lessons and practice. Highly recommend to anyone with an interest in learning to code!

After completing the 'introduction to coding' course, I got so hooked on coding that I decided to continue my coding journey with SheCodes Plus. I had a really exciting and challenging learning experience with SheCodes Plus. It has got me off to a really good start in coding and I can't wait to further expand on the skills that I have learned here!

The SheCodes Plus workshop has been a great coding experience. I have learned so much about CSS, JS and much more. Matt has been a great teacher and explaining everything in detail. And if this wasn't enough, Joao was there to answer all our questions. The SheCodes community is very helpful and encouraging. I would highly recommend this workshop for everyone that is interested in learning how to code!

A great space to learn how to code!

This is my first time learning to code and I've enjoyed every part of it. I found the learning and challenges fun and easy to follow. The solutions also really helped, I highly recommend SheCodes to anyone.

SheCodes provided a great structured way to learn coding. Over the past 3weeks I found that I was able to understand lots of different concepts which helped me to complete the tasks assigned. Slack provides great support with opportunities to learn from others, as well as self directed searches.

In just 3 weeks I was able to learn so much about html, css, and javascript which are languages I have always tried to learn whether it was through a class or by myself but never could figure out. Matt Delac is a very enthusiastic instructor who can portray material as daunting as coding eloquently and effectively. I can finally say that I know how to create my own website and be proud of it! I can't wait to see what I can do next.

Being able to learn HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with SheCodes has already improved my understanding of the coding world so much. I am a Software Development student and my program mostly focuses on Java and Python. I am so glad I found SheCodes and had the opportunity to learn these front-end development skills from someone like Matt. He is such a great teacher and I never thought I would enjoy it as much as I did. I am continuing on to the SheCodes+ and SheCodes React workshops too.

I liked how you could schedule your own hours to complete the course. After each lesson there was an exercise to challenge what you learned. The slack support was helpful as you received an answer quickly from the community or SheCodes staff.

This has been my first actual contact with the coding world. Having a completely opposite professional background, I have always been intrigued by coding. I recommend this workshop for two reasons. Matt knows what he's talking about! He's gives us lots of tools and resources that I would not know about if I did not take the course. João is truly a miracle worker. He has helped me every step of the way and I honestly think I learned the most from him. As a total noob, seeing how he would fix my code and how he would make things function is both educating and inspiring.

I really enjoyed this workshop and learn about HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The lessons are well explained, we can study at our own pace and if we are stuck or have any questions, we can easily connect via Slack. I am going to continue learning by enrolling in the SheCodes Plus workshop. I cannot wait to learn more !

I learned so much in a short amount of time and decided to code something that would hopefully make people smile! I started off knowing nothing about coding and now I have quite a solid foundation thanks to SheCodes!

Great workshop, super interactive and easy to learn :)

I am not from a technology background in the slightest. I've been sewing theatrical costumes for a living for 12 years. This course was completely comprehensive and fun! I'm such a visual learner, so being able to see my work with every small change made this learning process so great.

As a beginner, i have learned a lot and feel confident in Coding!

Thanks to SheCodes I feel like I've learnt so much in such a short space of time! Matt is an incredible teacher who really explains everything in a clear and concise way, and any time I ran into something I didn't quite understand, there was always someone on Slack to help understand! This is a course I really recommend anyone do if you're considering learning coding, it's so helpful!

I'm very glad that I've found this workshop and decided to give it a go. I've learnt so many interesting and useful things! Many thanks to Matt and the Team for all the support and the great course materials. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who is thinking about getting into coding.

Although I already had experience with HTML and CSS, the workshop explained to me the theory behind the code that was used, which up until now I only did it mechanically, without fully understanding the reasons behind using it. I was really scared about learning JavaScript, since it was the first time I worked with it. Having challenges after almost every lesson, was also a great way to retain the knowledge. I would highly recommend SheCodes to anyone and I'll probably come back and enroll in other course to improve and increase my coding skills.

I didn't have any coding experience and to be honest I thought coding wasn't very interesting. That all changed when a friend of mine recommended this workshop and I decided to give it a chance. I must say that it was worth it!! I liked it so much more than I thought I would and the structure of the workshop is really well done for beginners. In the future, I hope I can learn more about Coding, as it is very useful nowadays, and this workshop gave me the basis for that.

SheCodes helped me introduce myself into the programming world and showed me I shouldn't be afraid of coding. I learned that something that started as a hobby during my boredom in covid times could be fun and straightforward. I appreciated how smooth and understandable starting to learn to code can be. I still have a long road to go, but SheCodes sure motivated me to keep going through this road!

I must admit that this last one was a struggle but I made it eventually and I am grateful to all of you and especially to Matt Delac, Joao Lopes and Lexi Dillon. You guys are fantastic and I am happy I found you to teach me the basics of front end development and guide me through learning pains :) up to learning React, which I find complex and brilliant. Still a lot more to continue learning on my own - I hope you will come up with a new workshop. The community on Slack is great and always alert, ready to help. I had such a fun time learning SheCodes Plus! Although a lot of the material was difficult and sometimes frustrating, it was so worth it and satisfying in the end. I loved building my weather app and it was amazing to see my final product actually work. I am so excited to continue learning and to be able to use these skills in the future!

This was a very comprehensive course. Matt is great at explaining the work and was extremely stress-free. I think these basic skills are extremely valuable and I'm very happy with the amount that I've learned while being able to go at my own pace.

I've always wanted to learn how to code, but never knew where to begin. With SheCodes I was finally able to learn from an organized course that allowed me to practice what I had learned. Completing each challenge and seeing the end product of my code was exciting. I've truly enjoyed learning something new, and SheCodes has inspired me to pursue this skill further.

So when I was a kid, I was learning a bit of css. I always liked it, so I always really wanted to learn proper coding! And I'm so happy I found this page! I absolutely loved this course. I used to find coding tedious, but now I love it and I was surprised by how easy it was to create content using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. I will definitely be using the skills I have learned in the future!

The workshop was a great opportunity to refresh my knowledge on HTML and CSS and learn first steps in JavaScript. Sometimes the pace was a little bit too fast to my taste. If I hadn't known some of the stuff before I believe I would have been a little lost. But all in all it is a great workshop. I had lots of fun learning new stuff.

I've loved the SheCodes workshop! The lessons were neatly broken down with corresponding challenges that gave us space to practice what we just learned. I appreciate how organized everything is, and that we use real developer tools to write our own code. Knowing that fellow students and educators are available via Slack was a great comfort when I found myself facing errors in my code. Much of the time I was able to find a solution via a quick Google search, but a few times I went to Slack and saw that other students were experiencing similar issues. It added a sense of community learning despite being all online. My experience with SheCodes thus far has been very positive and I am excited to start the next set of workshops.

I enjoyed learning more about JS. The course structure is really helpful as it lets you use the knowledge you just gained right away before moving on to the next topic. If there were ever any doubts, the slack channels helped to clear them all.

After a challenging few months, I am happy to announce I am now a qualified Front End Developer! The SheCodes team provide 24/7 support which has allowed me to learn how to code quickly and confidently. From this course, I learnt not only how to code, but I gained great insights and tips on which programs, hosting sites, etc to use - something every beginner venturing into coding would find really useful. It was definitely a challenging course but the challenges and homework really helped me to comprehend things better. I also liked how I can read up other students' questions and problems on the SlackChat and learn further from the replies. Looking forward to starting the React course.

I had played around with coding prior to joining SheCodes, but I found the format of learn, challenge, solution to be the best method for me to actually absorb and apply code. Really great workshop - kind of sad that it is over!

I'm an EFL teacher who due to the pandemic had to change the way I was teaching. Thus, I started interacting more with the digital world and found SheCodes. This platform not only help me understand how websites are built but also how to get creative in order to make new things. Now, I'm even more interested into how to include everything I learned into my teaching methods and how to connect the coding world with the new era of education.

This course has challenged me to think differently and research concepts I didn't fully grasp. Sometimes the mistakes I stressed over had simple solutions, and I am glad that the SheCodes community was so helpful. I realized that must train my mind to pay attention to detail. I stumbled upon the SheCodes workshops by accident, but it feels like it was the perfect opportunity at just the right time. I tentatively registered for the free class but was hopeful. I had no previous experience coding, and frankly, no clue what coding entailed. But after the free class, I immediately signed up for the first SheCodes Workshop. Between the lessons, community chat, and encouragement from Matt to do more research on the material we were learning- I was hooked! Coding never seemed accessible and so I never knew I would hold any interest in it. SheCodes took the intimidation, self-doubt, and mystery away. For the first time in quite a while, I'm excited to learn again and feel confident that SheCodes will help me develop new skills. I'm proud and excited to say that I am enrolling in the SheCodes Plus React workshop to continue my training!!

I took a lot away from the workshop. Besides the well explained videos, I had a lot of fun and was able to get a taste of a whole new area – coding (which I never thought is actually something I like to do). Great experience to get out of my comfort zone and learn something new! The course is very well taught and of easy comprehension to "non-coders". I strongly advice anyone who wants to understand the basics of html coding.

I started coding as a way to gain a new skill during the long days of lockdown. Coding has now become a passion of mine: I started with intro to coding and I am happy to announce that I just finished the React module! I am more than positive I will continue practising, learning and who knows maybe even turn it into a full time job. SheCodes broke down a huge amount of new information into learnable and workable chunks. Homework helped apply the new concepts immediately. I loved having the videos because I would go back and watch them when working on my final project.

Never imagined learning to code, let alone that I would have so much fun with it... The Workshop is organized in a very effective way, with small lessons that allow us to make small progress at a time and never lose motivation. I really recommend!

Super interesting course! I would highly recommend it to anyone that has never done coding before and would like to deep dive in this amazing area. The course is very easy to follow, clear explanations and I really liked working on the final and see how I was implementing all the things I've learnt in the past weeks.
