If you have an interest in learning how to code, the SheCodes Basics workshop is a great way to figure out if coding really is for you. Each video and challenge is well explained, and the SheCodes community on Slacks is a good backup for when you're stuck. Matt challenges you by giving you factors on a web page where you need to figure out the code yourself, while teaching you how to google your issues and communicating them through Slacks. All in all, the work shop is the perfect course where you won't commit to a big and more expensive package, but still getting to know the basics and explore your interest more.
I really enjoyed this workshop, I learned how to create a website page and made it better. I am proud of my result :)
It's easy to follow and Matt provides challenging exercises every week. You learn the very basics with this course in an easy and intuitive way. You also have the chat in Slack which I found very helpful when I'm unsure about something in my code.

I didn't imagine that coding is something that I could ever learn; I have always thought that it is a very complicated subject and only those good in math or "engineers" can understand it. But as I started the lessons I began to see that it can be an interesting and fun experience. SheCodes lessons were divided into a few minutes per topic so the student wouldnβt be overwhelmed. There were challenges at the end of each lesson so it served as a review and to practice what I understood about the topic. Matt is also a great instructor; he was able to explain things very well, in a simple and clear manner. I found myself looking forward to watching each lesson! And to the amazing support of the SheCodes team, where you can readily ask for help in case you get stuck on the assignments that you are working on. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity and blessed to be a part of this community.

I enjoyed the course a lot. The course doesn't require any previous programming experience and is suitable for absolute beginners who would like to try programming but don't know where to start. In the beginning, I just wanted to support the team for giving Ukrainian women an opportunity to learn web development during these harsh times. And in the end, I actually had a lot of fun doing all the homework, watching the videos, and learning. I have already recommended this course to a friend of mine.
I was quite hesitant before signing up because I didn't think I would be able to learn how to code. But the lessons are very well designed: the videos are short which makes it accessible, the exercises are fun but difficult enough to make it challenging and there is constant interaction with the SheCodes team π©βπ» in case you have questions. Also, since English is not my native language, I was afraid that learning to code would be a double challenge for me. But Matt speaks slowly and is super clear, plus there are tools like Close Caption to help those who have English as their second or third language. I highly recommend it; this course proves that we can all code πͺπ½πͺπ½.
It is tough but worth it. I like that I have learned this new skill and hope to use it as a career in the future.

For a long time I've been passionate to work with software development, but because I hadn't studied a related major in college and being almost 30yo, for times I thought it was too late to get to such career. But when we have passion and determination, we can make anything happen. I started working as a QA, performing manual tests for a software. But manually testing at some point was no longer a challenge for me, so I wanted to dive into developing automation scripts with JS. I found sheCodes basics and I instantly fell in love with Matt's didactics, teaching code in a simple, fun and clear way! That really helped me to get a head start, with a testing tool that uses JS as framework. Further on, I decided to do shecodes Plus + React to keep learning and growing as QA and perhaps become a FE developer. It's been over 3 years working as a Quality Assurance Engineer for automation, and I can say I love my job! It's never too late to pursue your passions.

I have really enjoyed the Basics course. I had watched some videos previously, but I wanted some more practical experience and to see whether coding was the right direction for me. This was a great way to gain some knowledge, experience and confidence in coding; before thinking about committing to a more advanced course requiring more investment (of time and money!). The exercises are really helpful and a great way to put the knowledge you have learned into practice. I would recommend the course to anyone wondering whether coding is something for them - give it a try!

Amazing course! I have never expected from myself to be involved into coding process so intensely. Was I scared? Yes, sure. Although it was tough at times, I managed to go through all the lessons step by step, watching videos several times until I caught the meaning. Learning coding at my own pace with a structured path was amazing and very informative. The lectures were informative, the challenges helped me concrete my knowledge. Finally the weekly assignments and the final project kept me on my toes and did not let me procrastinate. The whole course was amazing and I am so excited to learn more with SheCodes.

I started out knowing NOTHING about coding and am finishing up with a really decent grasp. The course was so easy to follow and Matt does an amazing job at explaining everything clearly. I've enjoyed it so much and am motivated to keep learning.
I would recommend this workshop for women, who have never been involved in coding. However, if you already know some basics, this one would be easy for you, but still useful, if you learnt other coding languages, just to see how things work, because they are pretty similar.

This workshop was definitely challenging and it required a lot more that 5 hours a week some weeks but in saying that I made it! And I am so excited with what I have learnt and achieved in such a short period. Going from having zero knowledge from a development stand point to being able to create a fully functional weather app with an API linked in is very exciting. The knowledge that I have gained through Matt and the team is already being applied in my job as a health application specialist and it has elevated my testing and ability to trouble shoot.
SheCodes has been an amazing program to go through. SheCodes Plus has been awesome to learn from. I have learned so much on how to make Javascript function and how to make HTML/CSS work for me as well.

The lessons are bite-sized and not too overwhelming. I definitely learned a lot! I took the basics course and it was a great refresher/ beginners course! I would definitely recommend this to everyone looking into coding!
I'm positively surprised by how much I learned in such a short amount of time. The challenges are indeed challenging, but the project was extra fun. I like that Matt does not simply read a script but is passionate about his endeavor. He continuously shows me how to help myself. After the course, I will know where to look and find more information. The course is partially exhausting, but every minute invested is 100% worth it. Two thumbs up! I highly recommend it.
