SheCodes Coding Workshop Reviews

I always wanted to learn how to code. I have spent a lot of time in the customer service/food service realm and always saw advertisements for coding workshops. Three weeks ago, I took the leap and I don't regret it. I definitely have a mind that likes to figure things out and so seeing the back end of everything has been super cool. This course was definitely nostalgic, reminding me of my time trying to edit my Myspace profile to something a little more personalized. I definitely want to continue my journey and learn more.

At SheCodes Basic, I learned a lot about HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in just three weeks. I really liked how workshops were structured, challenging us to make practices by doing exercise what we'd learned. I've learned so much in just three weeks. It's all about hands-on learning. I'm excited to continue on my learning journey after finishing SheCodes Basic.

Great refresher for basic HTML, CSS, and JS. It's suitable for people who have never coded before—great explanations, homework assignments, and projects that keep you accountable throughout the course. The only reason for my 3/5 stars is because I already knew how to the content in this particular course. Skip this course, however, if you recently learned HTML, CSS, and JS and have a good grasp of the fundamentals. I suggest you proceed with the higher-level curriculum.

Would highly recommend SheCodes Basic course to anyone who are even slightly interested in knowing how to code. You can choose your own pace of studying (do have deadlines tho & it's a good thing), lessons are structured and on point, challenges are short and fun to accomplish and you can also always ask for help from team if you're stuck with something. I had a great time learning basics and really excited to learn further!

It was an amazing course! The videos were easy to follow but also challenging and I really enjoyed learning something completely new.

Loved SheCodes Basic! Short and straightforward videos with clear explanations and simple examples specifically designed training material for beginners and advanced students alike. Extra info with links at the bottom of each video where you can learn more. Who knew that it would be more difficult to decide on the colors you want to use for your final project than the coding part itself 😅. Good thing Matt has a solution for that too with SheCodes Color Palettes and CSS Gradients. Thank you Matt & SheCodes team!

Coding is very fun and interesting. For those looking for a sign if you need to start learning how to code, THIS is your sign. For those who want to try it out as a hobby, then it's definitely worth trying out this workshop. Good luck to everyone'e coding journey (and mine as well)!

The lessons taught by Matt, were super clear and manageable. Having the slack team available for when we got stuck was so nice, and helped keep up morale and motivation toward learning more and having fun doing it. Outside of that the other SheCodes resources, such as the gradient and palette features, and shecodes radio rocked ! Most importantly, they were really understanding with timing; I needed extensions due to health concerns and power outages, and they made it really easy and stress-free to request more time. 10/10 would recommend.

I really appreciate the step-by-step process of this course. I feel like learning and practicing in steps and then later on applying it into a project is really helpful. I also enjoy the organization of the program and feel adequate enough to know where to look for help and where to find references in order to support in my learning.

This course helped me to understand the basics of HTML, CSS and JS. Really appreciate the opportunity to learn with SheCodes!

This workshop has given me a general knowledge of coding, allowing me to know what's out there coding-wise. It gave me the big picture of the possibilities and limitations (if there are any!) of coding. I am delighted to be able to build a fully functional application, to have learnt technical terms and most importantly to understand the logic behind coding. Although I don't wish to become a developer myself, I am pretty sure this knowledge will come in handy in all my future professional endeavours. Regarding the workshop structure, in spite of feeling somewhat overwhelmed by some weeks' workload, I find it positive to have a weekly-basis step-to-step approach to the workshop, otherwise, it would be easy to lose rhythm and fall back on progress. Thank you very much!

I would never have imagined I would build a weather app by myself in 8 weeks, I just learned so much, thanks Matt & SheCodes Team! I loved the fact that the lessons were focused on the project. SheCodes+ was a complex, yet fun and informative workshop. There were times when I struggled, but it was pretty exciting whenever I found the solutions myself. It was also extremely helpful having support whenever I needed it. Matt's lessons were easy to understand and I enjoyed being hands-on in the project. I joined SheCodes after not knowing if I wanted to return for my graduate studies in Psychology. I was feeling lost and without direction in life, and was also dealing with chronic pain from a spinal stenosis diagnosis. I spoke to a friend of a friend who is a professional full-stack developer and they told me all about their career. The next day, I looked into coding schools and was happy to stumble upon SheCodes. The lessons have been easy to follow and learning has become exciting again. I am so happy to be here.

The course's format is efficient: frequent challenges, weekly homework and final projects alongside with clear instructions from the instructor; very supportive technician team giving quick solutions/explanation. I have learnt a lot by practicing almost daily.

After months of using other learning platforms, I found SheCodes to be the best platform available! I really appreciated after each lesson, you get to practice what was showed in the previous video, and you can't move on until you submit your work! Matt is an awesome instructor. I always wanted to learn coding, but never felt like I could because it looked so intimidating. I was on Instagram one day and saw an Ad for the SheCodes free Coding Class. Matt introduced coding in a way that made it look fun and cool, so I enrolled in the SheCodes Basics workshop and I cannot even believe how much I learned in just 3 weeks! I am able to help out more with basic coding at work and my supervisor is thrilled and I can't wait to grow in this skill!

This is the beginning of a journey and the end of the whole SheCodes Pro. Learning React was fun, engaging and hard at times. I thought this was a great introduction to React! I actually enjoyed using react more than I expected. I'm looking forward to learning more about it and how to use it in current projects for future jobs.

Very happy with the whole program but particularly with the React module as I got to learn to be more efficient and practical. The two projects were challenging but also quite fun and I know feel more confident in my skills and capabilities. Coding with react was tricky at first but quite intuitive overall and I am looking forward to continue learning.

I have worked in digital marketing for 6+ years and wanted to explore the world of tech. For many years I thought there was no place for me because I do not have an affinity for math and science, but I was wrong. I'm excited to become a front-end developer, and teach my daughter that there is no ceiling to learning new things and setting personal or career goals.

I can't believe that this workshop came to an end. I really enjoyed learning about React. It was different than vanilla JS so I had to deal with some new errors and it was definitely fun. I also want to thank SheCodes team for all of their helps. Looking forward for more!

I've found this course very enjoyable to work on, I've loved seeing practical demonstrations of my knowledge expanding and the course material has been really easy to follow along with. The resources that come with access to the workshop have also been incredibly useful! I really loved working on my dice rolling project and can't wait to continue learning more JavaScript, CSS, HTML and strengthening my knowledge. I'm going to ensure the page actually represents my vision properly by continuing to work on the project even though it's been submitted!

This course erased my fear of learning to code. I used to think that you had to be some genius with the best mathematical skills to learn, but you can simply be a creative like me that has an interest.

SheCodes has provided me with the structure I need to succeed. The lessons for the week are broken into bite-sized pieces with little challenges after each lesson (like two-bite brownies!), which builds to the week's homework assignment. The assignment gives you the opportunity to apply all of the week's lessons to see how they work together. This two-bite brownie approach helps to remove the feeling of overwhelm and gives the feeling of satisfaction with each challenge. I'm so excited to see what I learn throughout the SheCodes React program.

Just finished the sheCodes plus course, another amazing learning experience! At the beginning I found javaScript very challenging, but I stuck with it and now I have a much better understanding of javaScript. Loved this course and cannot wait to start the next 😄!

I was shocked, with this beginner course of SheCodes Basics. It took away negative thoughts and feelings, I had when it came to learning basic HTML, JavaScript and CSS. I am a believer that I can code because I had faith within myself especially with having a invisible learning disability. I found this to be the most helpful SheCodes workshop in the curriculum! React is quickly being adopted across industries - there is a definite need for these skills. I felt Matt went through the course well and having two projects made it much easier to see how React can be applied. The technical assistants responded quickly to questions in Slack and were very knowledgeable - helping me through any issues along the way. I also learned real world skills to be able to troubleshoot issues with my code.

Very interesting workshop, learnt a lot about responsive design and Matt explanation makes things way simpler.

So happy to have completed all the SheCodes courses, finishing with React! I have learned so much along the way and feel a million times more confident than when I first began with almost no knowledge of coding. Super excited to continue the rest of my journey!

I'm so happy I've taken part in this course! SheCodes Plus taught me advanced HTML, CSS and Javascript concepts, but I've never felt overwhelmed along the way. This is because the content is super clear and well structured. You will learn to build such interesting websites, that you're not going to want to stop coding!
