This is my fourth SheCodes workshop, and my learning curve has been incredibly steep. I started out with zero knowledge, and SheCodes has given me tons of knowledge and more confidence. SheCodes has given me the confidence to play with code and explore existing libraries and frameworks. The React workshop was terrific; it tied together everything I've learned and pushed me to challenge myself. The instructor is incredibly resourceful and talented and explains things in a simple-to-understand and unique way. The Slack team is ready to answer any question 24/7, and there is a massive community of women with the same goals and ambitions. I cannot recommend these workshops enough!

I think shecodes.io as well as the instructors give a super overview of HTM, CSS & JavaScript. My first 3 weeks with SheCodes has been quite the ride, I was very new to the world of coding with very little experience and there was a lot of information that I had learn and it was overwhelming, but I feel as though there is room for me to get better at this craft as long as I push myself harder. Matt was a great instructor, he was able to make me understand everything better and I am proud of my first project.

It was a great experience to start learning coding with this course! If you're new in this field, like me, be sure that you have a step-by-step guide through basic HTML, CSS, and JS in an amazing community of instructors, mentors and students. Also, you are going to do lots of fun challenges, homework, and projects, which makes it very practical.
Taking this add-on after venturing into React for the first time in the React workshop was great additional practice for me. This mini workshop helped me cement React concepts (how components work and how they connect/how to troubleshoot) and made me more comfortable with applying this to my own projects. Seeing the instructor work out bugs on the tutorials (the thinking process and steps he takes) helped me with doing my own debugging. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the workshop SheCodes has to offer.
I learned so much in such a short amount of time! I appreciate my instructors in depth explanations and resourceful teaching. I can't wait to build on my knowledge going forward with SheCodes and further real world experiences.

My interest in coding began in late 2022, whilst I was in my third year of University. I realised that I had little passion for my major and wanted to find something new that would spark passion within me. I had thought about going back to university after I graduated to study an MBA or something in finance. But, 2022 was a year of exploration and self discovery for me, I had met a lot of friends within the tech industry, who suggested I look into coding and that coding was a great field for women. So, I did just that. I began my research and saw an overwhelming amount of different positions within the tech industry. Immediately, I was drawn to the idea of cybersecurity and began to do a course on that on freeCodeCamp but it was overwhelmingly difficult and frustrating. I gave up as quickly as I had began. Then, I return after I had written my final year exams and went back to my research, I looked for advice from the large online coding community and everyone had advised to start with web development, as it was the foundation of understanding coding and breaking into the industry. So, I started again, watching Youtube videos, following along with them as they began to code, and at first, it was overwhelming but it made a lot more sense this time since I was taking baby steps. I spent a month being self taught, assimilating the different markup languages, wanting to perfect them before I added Javascript to my roster. I went on Tiktok and found my community in 'Black women in Tech-tok', that's when I came across SheCodes for the first time. I always knew I was a learner that needed a roadmap with structure, so I knew I would thrive in an online school or course, so I knew SheCodes would be for me. I had a stable enough understanding of HTML and CSS and SheCodes helped me begin to understand the ropes of Javascript and I'm excited to learn more, know more and grow with SheCodes. This is only the beginning of my journey with our amazing instructor Matt and the SheCodes team.

Matt is an outstanding instructor! He's very objective and clear in his explanation, the classes are divided in a way that makes the learning super fluid and fun! Despite having a solid foundation in HTML and CSS, I previously struggled with understanding JavaScript. However, Matt's classes, along with the engaging challenges that accompany a lot of classes, have turned JavaScript a lot easier for me.
I really enjoyed this basic workshop and finished it within a week. I have previous experience in HTML and CSS and I can definitely tell our instructor, Matt explained everything very well. So I can assure people with zero coding experience can follow this workshop without struggles. I have learnt about JavaScript event, prompt and alert in this workshop, too. This course was amazing! As an introduction into the world of tech , this was the perfect pace for me . The instructor Matt delivers the information in a way that simple and easy to understand. Being able to go back and watch a lesson was a huge comfort as well as being able to reach out for help through slack . I honestly give this a 10/10 and recommend anyone who is interested but sure where to start to take this class ! Imso happy I did , and I will be continuing to the next course after this one !!

Hello everyone, I'm just a regular retail associate who just wants to do more. I do have a bachelor's degree in fine arts, but I don't really have anything to show for it, since I don't have a career in that field. So to feel not so "stuck" I decided to learn coding. I took the basic course 1) to see if I could actually do it and 2) to see if I would actually like it. The SheCodes basic course taught me I could do it, and I do actually kind of like it. The courses do have their challenges sometimes but you can easily get the help you need and Matt, the instructor, breaks everything down really nicely. I never thought online- learning could be for me but after taking this course I don't find it that bad. In my opinion, you can't go wrong in taking the basic course, it gives you an idea of what an actual career in tech could be and for little cost.
I would definitely recommend SheCodes to friends and family. I have tried out other BootCamp and this has been the best one. Matt was an incredible instructor and explained everything well. It was easy and fun to follow.

I recently finished the React workshop and was impressed with the knowledge and teaching style of the instructor, Matt. One of the highlights of the workshop: building a weather app. On the surface, the app may have looked simple, but it was a great demonstration of the power of React. Despite its basic appearance, there was a lot of work that went into building this app, and I learned so much about the React framework in the process. The workshop was structured in such a way that we gradually built up the app, starting with the basics and adding more and more functionality. This made it easy for me to understand how React works and how to use it effectively.

I loved how SheCodes had short videos that didn't feel overwhelming and you could watch at your own time. There is always help available when you need it but I think when your code is not working and giving you the result you want, trying to figure out what is wrong helps you learn better! My husband is a web developer and has always encouraged me to learn how to code. I wasn't sure if I would like it so was looking for an introductory course that I could fit around working and being a mom of two young kids. I liked how I could do the lessons from home at times that suited me. The home work deadlines kept me accountable and encouraged me to stick to my learning schedule. I would highly recommend SheCodes for anyone interested in learning to code! The lessons are easy to follow, Matt is a great instructor, you have a ton of support through the Slack channels, and the semi-self paced nature of the courses provides structure to keep you on track but allows you to work on your own schedule.
The course needs more in depth explanations of why the instructor is making certain choices instead of the phrase "trust me" which is used many times. For the price, I feel the course should offer a lot more information on how React actually works, currently it seems that it is a very "copy what I do" style of teaching which in the long run is not helpful for aspiring devs.

Great workshop layout. Matt did a great job as an instructor. I was able to learn so much in just 2 weeks and get excited to see my first lines of code coming into reality.

Matt is a great instructor who explains every concept concisely and clearly. I was looking for a perfectly organized resource to learn web dev, and I am very grateful that I came across this one in time! It teaches all the basics of building an interactive landing page. The course provides bite-sized videos, a good amount of practice problems, and solutions that can be used as a guide. Besides the concepts, I also learned many tips and tools to enhance your learning experience.
I was an absolute beginner in coding and I had no related knowledge. At first, I applied to SheCodes to see whether I am interested in coding or not. Then, as I saw how fluently the instructor is teaching everything, I understood that a new lovely journey has just started! I highly recommend all SheCodes workshops to any woman who wants to learn coding in the best intelligible way.

SheCodes Basics helped me a lot in understanding and writing html, css and js codes. I feel proud of myself to be able to do my first project with everything learnt from SheCodes Basics Workshop. I loved how all the content of the courses are well organized and detailed. Instructor Matt explains the material in a way that everything seems understandable and doable. Looking forward to learn more advanced topics and do more projects with upcoming workshops.
