I have been learning from She Codes for the past month and it has been an invaluable experience. She Codes has given me the fundamental skills I need to start my IT career. I recently completed a short coding course with the Delac Foundation and it was an amazing experience! The course was well-structured, easy to follow, and provided a solid foundation for coding basics. The instructors were knowledgeable, supportive, and always available to answer any questions or concerns I had throughout the course. The course touched a little on coding topics, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and provided me with practical coding skills. The course also helped me to build my confidence and gave me understanding of how coding works and how it can be used to build websites and applications. However the knowledge is not very applicable in the work world. It provides a glimpse into coding and one would need further studies to be able to put the work into practice.
This was such a rewarding time. I took a chance in learning coding and I'm glad I did. If you're looking to start coding I would highly recommend it. You don't loose anything. I hope to continue to progress throughout each course. Thank you, Matt for being a great instructor. π

My SheCodes journey was very constructive. I started from scratch, and in 9 months I have learned how to code. It is very fulfilling when you see your own work come to life. Just completed the She Codes Basic-add on course (Intro to Web Development) . The course content was interesting and challenging, but presented in a way that was easy to follow. I recently finished the workshop where I learned how to develop a Dictionary app using React and 2 different APIs. While I found React to be challenging at first, with practice and persistence, I was able to create a functional app. We learned how to integrate 2 APIs (one for word definitions and another for photographs) into the app and how to display the results in a user-friendly way. One thing I appreciated about the workshop was that the instructor provided us with all the code we needed to follow along, but also encouraged us to customize the app and make it our own. Overall, the workshop was informative, and challenging, providing valuable hands-on experience.
This is my fourth SheCodes workshop, and my learning curve has been incredibly steep. I started out with zero knowledge, and SheCodes has given me tons of knowledge and more confidence. SheCodes has given me the confidence to play with code and explore existing libraries and frameworks. Also, you are going to do lots of fun challenges, homework, and projects, which makes it very practical.
Taking this add-on after venturing into React for the first time in the React workshop was great additional practice for me. This mini workshop helped me cement React concepts (how components work and how they connect/how to troubleshoot) and made me more comfortable with applying this to my own projects. Seeing the instructor work out bugs on the tutorials (the thinking process and steps he takes) helped me with doing my own debugging. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the workshop SheCodes has to offer.

My interest in coding began in late 2022, whilst I was in my third year of University. I realised that I had little passion for my major and wanted to find something new that would spark passion within me. I had thought about going back to university after I graduated to study an MBA or something in finance. But, 2022 was a year of exploration and self discovery for me, I had met a lot of friends within the tech industry, who suggested I look into coding and that coding was a great field for women. So, I did just that. I began my research and saw an overwhelming amount of different positions within the tech industry. Immediately, I was drawn to the idea of cybersecurity and began to do a course on that on freeCodeCamp but it was overwhelmingly difficult and frustrating. I gave up as quickly as I had began. Then, I return after I had written my final year exams and went back to my research, I looked for advice from the large online coding community and everyone had advised to start with web development, as it was the foundation of understanding coding and breaking into the industry. So, I started again, watching Youtube videos, following along with them as they began to code, and at first, it was overwhelming but it made a lot more sense this time since I was taking baby steps. I spent a month being self taught, assimilating the different markup languages, wanting to perfect them before I added Javascript to my roster. I went on Tiktok and found my community in 'Black women in Tech-tok', that's when I came across SheCodes for the first time. I always knew I was a learner that needed a roadmap with structure, so I knew I would thrive in an online school or course, so I knew SheCodes would be for me. I had a stable enough understanding of HTML and CSS and SheCodes helped me begin to understand the ropes of Javascript and I'm excited to learn more, know more and grow with SheCodes. This is only the beginning of my journey with our amazing instructor Matt and the SheCodes team.

Matt is an outstanding instructor! He's very objective and clear in his explanation, the classes are divided in a way that makes the learning super fluid and fun! Despite having a solid foundation in HTML and CSS, I previously struggled with understanding JavaScript. Hello everyone, I'm just a regular retail associate who just wants to do more. I do have a bachelor's degree in fine arts, but I don't really have anything to show for it, since I don't have a career in that field. So to feel not so "stuck" I decided to learn coding. I took the basic course 1) to see if I could actually do it and 2) to see if I would actually like it. The SheCodes basic course taught me I could do it, and I do actually kind of like it. The courses do have their challenges sometimes but you can easily get the help you need and Matt, the instructor, breaks everything down really nicely. I never thought online- learning could be for me but after taking this course I don't find it that bad. In my opinion, you can't go wrong in taking the basic course, it gives you an idea of what an actual career in tech could be and for little cost.
I would definitely recommend SheCodes to friends and family. I have tried out other BootCamp and this has been the best one. Matt was an incredible instructor and explained everything well. It was easy and fun to follow.
This class helped me understand the fundamentals of coding. As a result, I am able to better communicate with developers at work. The instructor was awesome!

I recently finished the React workshop and was impressed with the knowledge and teaching style of the instructor, Matt. One of the highlights of the workshop: building a weather app. On the surface, the app may have looked simple, but it was a great demonstration of the power of React. Despite its basic appearance, there was a lot of work that went into building this app, and I learned so much about the React framework in the process. The workshop was structured in such a way that we gradually built up the app, starting with the basics and adding more and more functionality. This made it easy for me to understand how React works and how to use it effectively.
I am proud to have completed the SheCodes program and gained valuable skills in coding. The program was well-structured, and the instructors were knowledgeable and supportive. Thank you for providing such a valuable learning experience.

SheCodes Plus was an amazing learning experience for me! in a way I think attending SheCodes to further my coding skills has been one of my best professional decisions so far.
