I am 26 and had a child at 15. Our life has been a ride. I have been a server for well over 8 years and never have I ever thought about coding until our state went into lockdown and everyone including me lost our jobs. It was and still is quite scary but signing up for SheCodes has empowered me in a way I have never been able to reach before. I loved the entire course and I woke up bright and early every morning to finish my homework and study on my own time. Matt is a personable instructor that took the edge off learning something completely new and intimidating. I came into this with absolutely no knowledge of coding. And now I'm hooked. I am so proud of myself for trying something completely new and daunting and I really believe everyone can feel this way too. Thank you for such a fun and informative course!
I have been overseeing as a client, website projects for almost 20 years working with the best creative and development agencies in Portugal. More recently, I jumped the fence and had a brief experience as a Senior Project Manager in one such agency. I was always curious about website development and finally decided to learn the basics. It was an amazing experience, SheCodes is extremely well organized, and there is a perfect balance between classes and homework. Ultimately not only I have a much greater understanding of frontend development, but also its complexity. Although I do not plan to become a developer myself, I am sure that what I have learned will play an important role in managing future projects. Additionally, it has given me a heightened respect for developers' work.
I've been interested in learning how to code for years, and this was a great introductory workshop to HTML, CSS, and Javascript! I have a very busy work schedule, but I was able to complete the tutorials, challenges, and homework assignments over the weekends. Matt is a great instructor and a very clear communicator, and you are able to relate and discuss questions or issues with SheCodes staff and your peers anytime over Slack. I feel more confident in my understanding of coding basics, and I am interested in taking the next step to learn more. My only regret is not signing up for a SheCodes workshop sooner!
I will definitely recommend Shecodes! I had no skills at all on coding. For me it was impossible, but they have given us enough confidence to overcome our fears and doubts. . Lessons are clear and efficient. Challenges, homework, communication, etc. The all organisation is awesome! thanks !!!!!
Overall, I think that the course is well structured, I enjoyed working towards a specific project. It is definitely a good choice if you want to discover if coding is for you. However, one thing I really would have appreciated is getting feedback on homework and final assignments. They simply got accepted as valid solutions without any additional comments, even though I am sure there was a lot to improve.Β
I started SheCodes with no prior coding knowledge. I had tried online learning for other subjects in the past and didn't have much success; I thought I was just someone who could only learn in person. I decided to try the online course anyway and I am SO GLAD I did. The course is well laid out. The videos are well done and I loved doing the challenges and homework to practice and reinforce the lessons. The best part of this course was that it was actually fun and gave me the confidence to continue on my coding journey. I'm excited to see where these skills take me and I would definitely recommend SheCodes to anyone who wants to get started.
SheCodes Plus keeps the great rhythm and practical approach of the introductory workshop. Lessons are clear and the structure of challenges and weekly homework really helps keeping you engaged. Covid-19 solved this problem for me by giving me time to actually find a course that sounded interesting, and oh boy this past 3 weeks by SheCodes flew by like a lightning. I've always been interested in coding but never taken the plunge and actually tried it. After taking the first workshop with SheCodes I was inspired to dive into the three-week beginner course. I've really enjoyed the lessons, challenges, and homework. I feel like I'm slowly but surely starting to understand this new language!

I work primarily as a 6th grade teacher and have encountered multiple times when my pupils wanted to learn some coding, but I was absolutely clueless about it. This course was the perfect fit for me! I wanted to learn web development more in-depth, but I needed guidance and some pressure not to procrastinate however, I couldn't spend a lot of money on a coding bootcamp. Although it was online and we could do it at our own pace, we had the slack chat which helped in feeling part of the class. Matt's English is very good and the classes are spoken at a good pace and you can understand everything very well. Any questions we had we could ask on slack and one of the instructors or even the students would respond briefly. I found it was very helpful this method of asking questions in slack because I would see my colleagues doubts and if I couldn't help them, I would see what the instructors answered and learned a little more. Also when the homework was submitted it appeared on slack and it really helped me in keeping my motivation because I didn't want to fall behind. All the people I talked to were very friendly and ready to help. I really do believe that we get a lot of value for the price we pay. It is on our side to make the most of it!
I've had some coding background that I rarely used in my professional life. But I've been in search of a short and structured coding workshop and this was perfect to expand my skillsets quickly. Instructors respond immediately to questions, and 'challenges' and homeworks were straight to the point and practical. Definitely considering taking their Pro course. Highly recommended!
SheCodes is a wonderful program. The tutorials are great and the homework is challenging but very doable. The final project is a fantastic way to culminate what you've learned and put it to use in a real world application. SheCodes has given me confidence not only in my skills but in my ability to find the answers I'm looking for when I'm stuck. I can't wait to keep coding and I'm so eager to learn more. SheCodes was an amazing experience...I was a bit terrified that I couldn't keep up, but Matt and all the team are really extraordinary! The course pacing is just perfect for you to understand everything, and all the challenges, homeworks and project are a fantastic way of practicing all you've learned. This a very valuable experience, gave me more tools to evolve profesisonally...and what can seem at the beginning like a seven-headed monster can be actually really fun to learn!
I really enjoyed attending this workshop! I didn't know anything about coding. At first, I thought it would be really difficult, but after attending the workshop, doing the homework and following the tutorials, available on the SheCodes website, I managed to do my own landing page from scratch! I was so proud of myself!
SheCodes Plus was great because I could develop what I initially started in SheCodes - Lisbon. The online platform was very well organized. The rewatchable Tuesday classes, the challenges videos + the exercises sequences helped me a lot to prepare myself to do the weekly homework. Never in my life I thought I could actually be capable of building a proper app, with real time information. This workshop sometimes was "sweat, blood and tears" but when I got things done and working it was a huge feeling of accomplishment! I strongly recommend this to all women who want to have a real understanding of what really is Front-End Development and its frameworks. She Codes model, in my opinion, works very well and itβs a very well-built course that focus mainly on practice classes, where you have challenges and homework every week that forces you to actually code and put into practice what youβve learned. I really enjoy the fact that classes are online and recorded, so we could see the videos many times if we had doubts. Also, I think the price is very competitive considering all other market offers and you really learn useful things and not a ton of unnecessary theory. Really enjoyed my time here and learned a lot! Definitely want to continue learning. Thank you Matt and the whole team!
This Workshop helped me to understand and develop my skills in JavaScript and React. The classes were great to have an overall view of each week's topics and having weekly challenges and homework allowed me to practice and really learn more. This course is very well structured.
I've really enjoyed the online coding workshop and I can not believe how much I've learned in such a short period of time. Matt is a great instructor, he has provided high-quality course materials with accompanying challenges and homework. He also gave lots of useful tips throughout the workshop including how to search to get the best results and how to use the keyboard more efficiently. I took my first steps towards becoming a developer thanks to SheCodes and cannot wait to continue with the other SheCodes courses to learn more!
Matt is a great instructor. He presented all of the information in a way that was easy to understand. I feel that the material was structured very well with a good balance of live classes along with the convenience of learning at our own pace at home. I enjoyed the whole experience - learning, the homework, the project...all of it! I will be looking for the SheCodes Plus availability that will fit my schedule soon.
The live workshops and the homework in between was a perfect combination and gave me the time to study even additional information. I would highly recommend the coding workshops at SheCodes.
I attended to SheCodes Live Workshop, so I can only talk about that. The course itself is instructed nicely, however I believe the curriculum was not very well suited to the amount of money that you pay (at my time it was 99 euros). you are going to have Courses and homeworks for 2 weeks, and the whole third week is dedicated to your final project, which I believe it could be better if they would have some material for the 3rd week too (Matt is going to have live webinar for 4 times in total, once per week). If you are brand new in coding then yes that is a good way to start. Also the slack-chat environment has a really nice, helpful and friendly atmosphere. BUT for someone who has a tiny little bit of coding experience I wont recommend this course. you should look for more challenging homeworks and syllabus. They are at the starting point though, so most probably they are going to improve themselves a lot.
SheCodes helped me to understand better the basics of coding. The amount of homework and lessons were perfect to combine with your work or duty activities.

I have never imagine I could be able to code and understand the web in 3 weeks. Homework were so fun to do and it was definitely worth it to come every Saturday from Porto to learn and to have this unique experience of learning from the Matt and his team. What an energy!
SheCodes was life-changing for me. It gave me the foundation and confidence I needed in order to continue my coding journey by myself. Not only when it comes to CSS HTML and JS, but also design concepts and even tools to use. The classes, homework and amazing network opportunities made it 100% worthwhile.
