The SheCodes Basics Add-On was where everything started clicking for me! Going from basic HTML to building an interactive gaming site with JavaScript felt like such a huge leap. Sure, my code isn't perfect yet, but seeing my 'Multiverse Gaming Chronicles' actually work - with buttons that respond and themes that switch - was honestly so exciting. The best part was realising I could take a creative idea (supernatural gamers with crazy powers!) and bring it to life on a webpage. Creating this dictionary app was a great learning journey for me. I used two SheCodes APIs, one for fetching word definitions and another for retrieving related images to build a rich and interactive experience. When a user searches for a word, the app displays its definition, part of speech, example usage, synonyms, and relevant images that visually represent the word. Working with multiple APIs taught me how to manage asynchronous data, handle errors gracefully, and keep the UI responsive. This project helped me grow my skills in React and API integration, and it was incredibly satisfying to see everything come together into a functional, polished product.
I like that it covers a wide range of topics, including how to create a website using Bootstrap and media queries, SEO, and Figma. However, learning on your own through additional resources can further expand your knowledge :)
