blending concrete with greenery
what is eco-brutalism?
Brutalism itself can be considered a subset of the modernism style of architecture, but is often described as a reaction to the lightness and style of modernism,
popularised by 1940s atrists like Mies van der Rohe, or Le Corbusier.
Brutalist architecture is charaterised by its use of raw/exposed concrete, while drawing from modernist
influence to let the materials speak for themselve, it has a less clean and polished aesthetic.
why I love this style of home
benefits of eco-brutalism
The simplicity and natural aspect is what draws my to this style of home. While I would not consider myself a minimalist, I love the maximalist aspect of encouraging a natural wildness in the home. This style feels refreshing and grounded.
Eco-brutalism makes use of open spaces to encourage natural light and fills spaces with plants and greenery.
The style attempts to create a more harmonious relationship between man-made and nature.
