Pyramid of Kukulcan
El Castillo (“The Castle”), a pyramid that rises 79 feet (24 meters) above the Main Plaza. El Castillo has four sides, each with 91 stairs and facing a cardinal direction; including the step on the top platform, these combine for a total of 365 steps—the number of days in the solar year.
Eagles & Jaguars Platform
The Platform of the Eagles and the Jaguars stands on a carved stone base with detailed representations of eagles and jaguars. These animals are engraved devouring human hearts, a vivid representation of the association between warrior bravery and ritual sacrifice..
Pok-ta-pok
The ball court (for playing the game tlachtli [Mayan: pok-ta-pok]) is 545 feet (166 meters) long and 223 feet (68 meters) wide, the largest such court in the Americas. Six sculpted reliefs run the length of the walls of the court, apparently depicting the victors of the game holding the severed head of a member of the losing team.
Archaeological Site
Chichen Itza is a well-known Archaeological Site and more after being selected one of the New 7 Wonders of the World in July the 7th, 2007. Chichen Itza welcomes over 2,500,000 visitors each year and you can reach the archaeological site by car, bus or with different tours. Chichen Itza opens every day from Monday to Sunday from 8 am to 5 pm, the last entrance is at 4 pm, and you can get the tickets on site.
