Belgrade, the capital, is famous for its energy. From morning coffee culture to the splavovi — floating river clubs that pulse with music all night — the city never seems to sleep. But beyond the buzz lies warmth: people who treat strangers like old friends, and layers of history in every street corner.
Nature & Escape
Travel a few hours from the capital, and Serbia’s wild side emerges. Tara National Park’s quiet forests, Zlatibor’s rolling hills, and the dramatic Đerdap Gorge offer nature at its most raw and unspoiled. For me, the idea of hiking all day and then eating a hearty meal of ćevapi with locals is irresistible.

Why Serbia Stays With Me
It isn’t just the landscapes or food — though both are incredible. It’s the feeling of being caught between histories, yet moving forward with joy. It’s hearing the strains of a trumpet in a town square, tasting rakija that warms more than just your throat, and realizing travel is less about where you go and more about how a place makes you feel.
